Lone Star Spring 2011

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

I managed to get a 100 on the Reading portion of the HESI by studying the HESI evolve reach Admission Assessment Exam Review and the HESI Admission Assessment Study Guide. The questions on the Reading portion are kind of tricky so you have to really read and re read to make sure you know exactly what point they are emphasizing. Sometimes there can be 2 answers that are correct, but one is more correct than the other. I laugh when I read some people say not over-think it, but IMHO, you must over-think it to see every angle in which the question is posed. If you miss the emphasis, you could miss the question.

i borrowed the evolve reach one from the cyfair library for 3 days...i guess im gonna have to borrow it again...the questions there though were surprisingly easy...idk if its just me...or thats really how it is...

and the admission assesment one...is that in the library too? i dont think i saw that book...

Hello everyone,

The day we have been working so hard for is approaching fast. I have been following this thread for some time now and trully appreciate all of the valuable information. I plan on taking the Hesi this weekend or by Monday. I will post my score as soon as I get it. I will be applying to Cyfair and live in Tomball. If all goes well,and we get accepted anybody be interested in starting a support group for mothers, from what I gather Cyfair is going to be pretty tuff. :nurse:

oh yea...i wanted to ask....on the reading portion of the HESI, after reading the passage, and start answering the questions, do i get to go back to the passage so i can check my answer/look for the answer, or once i've started answering the questions, i can no longer go back and re-read the passage...?

because, i like reading the questions...and then going back to the passage...

I honestly can't remember if you can return to a previous question or not. I don't remember doing that at all on my test.

I bought both of mine off of Amazon. It is a good investment. Sometimes you can find them pretty cheap under the "used" category. It depends on what time of year you are buying it.

The passage that you read is visible at all times for all of the questions that pertain to it. But after answering a question, you can't go back and change a previous answer - or at least I didn't see a way to do that.

Is anyone else still on pins and needles even after submitting an app with a good score? Thought once i turned in my paperwork i would be calm. Instead my ocd is kicking in....worrying bout all the scenerios that could go wrong.....

LOL I worry about them loosing my application. When I dropped it off I felt like I was handing over my first born. I wanted to sign something or have someone sign something to verify they actually did get the hard copy. LOL so I just got the name of the staff member who took it. I wrote it in my file I will hunt her down if something is missing! I know they think we are nuts. :) I think most of us have OCD because we are perfectionists to have gotten these types of scores and that is a GOOD thing especially for nursing.
