Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

great info, thanks so much!

I studied with the Evolve study guide...the company that makes the HESI test.

Anyone who is applying to CyFair, are you hoping to get morning or afternoon classes?

I think morning would be best for me since I have a daughter in elementary school. Hopefully it will all work out.

I am using the Barrows nursing study guide has anyone else used it?

So, for the Spring Semester, what does it look like? Classes either in morning or afternoon and then you are shadowing in the hospital the other part of the day....haven't really looked at how it's schedule yet....maybe some of you have already?

Kim

CyFair has traditionally had classes the first semester...

Morning Schedule:

Mon: 9am-1130am

Tues: 9am-1130am

Wed: 9am-1130am

Thur: 9am-2pm

Afternoon Schedule:

Mon: Noon-230pm

Tues: Noon-230pm

Wed: Noon-230pm

Thur: 9am-2pm

Labs and tests are sometimes scheduled at different times.

There are no clinicals first semester at CyFair.

Again, this is what's traditionally happened...but if I've read one thing about nursing school it's that things can change in a heartbeat!

Do you know what hospitals they use for clinicals? They start in the summer? Just wondering because if I have to work parttime, I would like to work at the one that I might get assigned to....that would be nice.

Kim

I don't know which hospitals are used sorry I would like to know also. Can any of you guys please tell me where to take my hard copy application in Kingwood. I am only vaguely familiar with the campus I know the Health Science Bldg but where in the bldg? Thanks in advance.

That doesn't look too bad. i will actually be at school less hours a week than I was last semester doing co-reqs:)

it's my understanding that it changes pretty regularly

Yes, I believe it does change regularly. I also heard that the school tries to make sure you're only at the same clinical site one time.

Does anyone have any clue what the North Harris schedule is like? I know they're not open this app period I am just curious.

Thanks.

Not sure exactly......their website instructs them to plan on being on campus all day everyday for the first few weeks and says something about their clinicals starting after that. seems to be set up a lot different than ours. if you go on their website and click "new adn students" you can see where i found that info:p
