Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
I'm glad the info session went well for everyone! Isn't the Quest program only for LVN anyhow?
Jennifer-I agree that the previous scores make applying kind of scary! I'm sure you'll be fine, though...what's your score? I will know mine by this time next week...awfully frightful! I really hope I don't end up with like a 11.2 or something and have to come back to this board with my tail between my legs and post that I def. won't be joining you all.
LilGTO- Good luck on brushing up on math. I, personally, couldn't wait until the end to take the test, I am so eager to know my final score!!
What other options are available to students who can need an online program with weekend clinicals? Delmar and TAMU in Corpus Christi have an online program, but I'm not clear as to when they have clinicals. HCC's evening program doesn't really work for a working person because classes can start as early as 3 p.m.
Lonestar North Harris has an online program, but you have to be available all day on Friday (I think). It is new and this fall semester is the first. I'm bummed about the online program as well. I can get there even w/ my work schedule, but I am more worried about family time.
I went to the info meeting (standing room only)...Michelle, were you there? I have some anxiety now because the director said 2009 applicant cut-off was 11.5 and 2010 was 11.6
I'm not going to go back and try to get another 1.5pts on the HESI...knowing me I would do worse.
So...now there's really nothing to do but wait it out until october
I was there! I had to scoot out of there during the q&a for my physical final, ha! I had on navy scrubs and was COLD and WET! I was surprised by the cut-off scores as well, b/c I was told 11.44. You and I both have above a 11.6, right? I think we will be ok. :) But we will know for sure in a couple of months!
yeah, I'm not too excited about hearing those crazy high scores. Maybe it's just a scare tactic to get people to not waste their time applying with an 11.0 or something.
I applied yesterday and I have an 11.652. I would have to re-take the HESI and make 1.2pts higher to make it exactly 11.7. I'm just going to wing it and see where it gets me this year. I know for a fact I could get into the North Harris Campus with that score because their cut off this year was 11.27, but that program is not my 1st choice.
And I doubt you will get an 80 on your HESI! You will be fine. Shoot for at least a 90 on it.
Just seems like everyone and their mother was there at the meeting last night, but maybe some of them were just starting wanting to know what they needed to do to get to the application point.
I think we were sitting in the same row!!?! Maybe??! I was looking at everyone in scrubs...do you work at a dialysis clinic?
I was sitting against the wall and there was a lady that came in late and stood in front of me in between rows.
I don't know what's going on with their online program either...maybe NH will have better luck with it?
I'm glad she made the point to say that they really try and help everyone pass instead of failing people as soon as they get in the program...I guess that makes me feel a teeny bit better??!
Hina, you can take it at any campus.
Jennifer, I was in the 3rd row! I thought you were maybe the person in front of me b/c she seemed to know a lot about what was going on. ha! I was also pleased to hear that they seem to be an encouraging group of professors! I just need to figure out if I can manage being away from my baby. I didn't see her much at all yesterday and when I got home I broke down. So, I'm having to do some soul searching here!!!!
Yay! Can't wait to put a face to the screen name:)You are younger than me
(and apparently if you were born before 1980, they didn't have a live virus or something weird that they say people should get a booster) and I didn't have my shot records anywhere, so I just decided to get all of them re-done.
They gave me: 3 doses of HepA/B combo, 2 doses of MMR, 1 Tdap and 2 doses of Varicella
...all for the grand total of $20 including the TB test.
hey jennifer, where did you get you shots?
I think we were in the same row! I didn't make a peep...I'm super shy so I don't say anything in public-especially in a big group!
And we are going to have to start a support group for Moms that are away from their children. I would say it gets better, but I cry every time my daughter leaves!!
I didn't hear any other things that helped me out any more and I stayed until the last person was asking her questions (the girl with the baby)
I'm guessing that if people wanted to...you could go to school on M-T-W and be done until the next week. That would be nice, but I think I will be trying to get a saturday clinical.

mks1014 the kingwood director did not say why other than they were putting the online course on hold until they could iron out problems that they were having with it. i would say that means they had some technical issues with it.
i will not be taking the hesi and applying to the program until the last week of august since i am retaking general psyc for the summer session ii since i made a b in the 80's and i need an a.
in the meantime i will be brushing up on my math skills...
