Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

Did anyone who did their fingerprinting receive their card in the mail?

Or does anyone know how long Board Of Nursing take to send out the verification card?

I just received my email and I have an appointment in 2 weeks.

A few people on the FB group have received theirs. I wanna say about a week or two after their fingerprinting was done.

It’s a lot!!! But so far I’m doing ok. I’m a little worried about the midterm lol but it’s still a few weeks away. It’s just soo many meds and idk which/what we need to know ?? kinda hate that we only have 2 test. I need more for practice ?

I know the feeling. I got a study guide but that was like the week before the exam. My tip is and I wished I did this sooner rather than later was to identify the chapters on the study guide because there are specific questions asked or areas to pay attention to. I tried answering the questions but quickly realized that finding practice questions for each chapter became my best friend. The more questions you do the better you will do on the exam. I used quizlet to find questions and just regular google search.

You will do great because it’s something that you truly want.

Does anyone know what the job outlook is for lone star ADN nurses after graduation? I was accepted into the cyfair program and also the BSN program at SFA. I am planning on going to the ADN program at lone star and then completing my BSN after but I want to make sure I’m not making a mistake.

Sfa has a great nursing program . My cousins are in it now .

I volunteer at a major hospital and have met a lot of ADN nurses from lone star Kingwood and North Harris. Some have completed their BSN already and others have not but they have to get it done within a specified timeframe or else they will become unemployed.

Thanks! I will make sure to utilize quizlet. I hate making flash cards but If I can find some already done that'd be nice lol. Do you know if any of ADNs you mentioned above got hired on at a place that only accepts BSNs while in the process of becoming a BSN? Like for instance Methodist only hires BSNs so I wonder if we are enrolled in a BSN program, would they consider us..

TwoI know for sure just started their BSN. I checked the hospital’s website the job posting part and it all said BSN or enrolled in a BSN program. But the nurses both were working without a BSN or enrolled in one when they got the job.

I received my BON card today.
