Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

Guys no matter if you get the actual book you will still spend the $160 because it comes with PrepU and you will be using it. Trust me for every chapter you read there is a prepU chapter test. You have multiple attempts at the chapter test to get the best possible grades.

I’m like you so I bought the 6th edition used on amazon for under $8. There are a few differences like meds removed or meds added but you have the ebook to supplement.

the $160 is not just for ebook it’s for prepU and yes you will use prepU everyday because you have to do a chapter test for each chapter and you also have weekly quizzes to do.

Look at buying the older edition or renting the newer edition just to have that actual copy.

The ebook has a read aloud feature which I utilize with the actual book by following along.

$8?! I didn't even think about getting an older version... you're a genius! Thanks for the idea!

Should we expect to hear something today? Omg I'm shaking now!!

Last application round they started sending emails out around 10am! I'm not sure about previous years though. My thought is sometime next week since they changed the application closing date last minute.

I don’t know I’m just waiting like everyone else. This is the end of week 2 and they said 2 to 4 weeks so I’m guessing next week the earliest.

Saved me a ton.

Also make good use of the PowerPoint slides. I had to rely on those a few times when the reading got too much and I was lagging behind trying to catch up. I can’t stress enough to do practice questions.

We didn’t for the summer semester. My guess is that it’s a short semester. I wished we did because the midterm and finals were worth 35% each that’s 70% of total grade.

For the pharmacology course I took at North Harris, we were allowed to use the drug handbook for all exams.

Lucky you. I wished we had that luxury.

I found my prof's old syllabus online from last semester and it looked like we only have a mid term and final for test grades too. Makes me nervous! Ready for class to start so I can get it behind me lol.

You will have a math exam (dosage calculations) too forgot to add that. It’s easy and if your prof gives a guide then you’ll be fine. There will be a few dosage calculations in the midterm and finals that’s just like the math exam.

You will do fine just put in the work. Any difficulties reach out to your professor.

I had no idea how to approach the class and my professor gave me a guide to how to read the book and taking notes and all that. It really helped me to comprehend the material.
