Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

Hey does anyone know when we find out if we got in or not? I know it's early but I am seriously checking my email like every 30 mins. Lol. This is brutal.

Valerie from Kingwood told me from 2-4 weeks from deadline

Do we get a letter regardless if we got denied, accepted, or wait-listed?

Yes, they send emails for each.

I just read online that Lone Star was the given an OK to offer a BSN program in the future with plans to start enrolling in the Fall of 2020. If this is true, this would be a nice bridge once the ADN program is complete or even for those that are looking into a BSN program.

I saw that on the news as well

Yesssss! I saw that on the news this morning. That’s exciting. I’ll be graduating in fall of 2020. It would be nice to start getting my BSN immediately after the ADN program from lone star as well.

I read months ago that it was for RN-BSN bridge. I haven't read the recent news on it.

Hey everyone, non nursing but lone star pre-requisite question. So whether I get in to ASN 2020 or not, I still need to take some classes fall 2019 to eat up some of those core credits needed for my BSN. My classes needed vs taken:

Communication 6 hours: Need ENGL 1301 and 3 hours of speech/Taken 1301 (need a speech- which one)

Mathematics 6 hours: I took math in Colorado but it only transferred as general credits, do I need to retake them or what? Anyways it says I need 6 hours (3 of which have to be stats for BSN, so what do I do for the other 3)

Life and Physical Sciences 16 hours: I have taken BIOL 1406,2401,2402,2421 (17 hours) and I am registered for CHEM 1405 in fall 2019 BUT I have gotten a "requirement designation" alert saying "30 Life & Physical Sciences - C1". None of the advisers can tell me what it is except saying it has a prerequisite.... which freaking one? I have more science credits than most people taking chem so what could possibly be needed?

Creative Arts 3 hours: Lord help me, I am not at all interested in art, dance, drama, or music. No BS what is the easiest one to BS my way through? Why is this even a requirement?!?!?!

Language, Philosophy, Culture 3 hours: I registered for HUMA 2319 and get another error message saying requirement designation "40 Lang, Phil & Cult - C1". Once again I can't get a straight answer...what do I do?

History-done, Government- done, Social/behavioral science- done

Component Area Option 4 hours: So I have an option to take these or not?

Sorry this is so long, but I am hoping someone has gotten further than me and can answer these questions because I have emailed and called each location and have gone to CyFair in person and NO ONE can give me a straight answer. In case this is all too confusing I have attached a color coordinated chart with all options.

Black is the section, dark blue are the classes available, green is what i have already taken, red is finished with section, blue is what is am enrolled in currently or thinking of taking.... HELP PLEASE

You need math 1314 college algebra, Phil 1301 I believe that’s the number but be careful bc only 65 credits transfer . I’m already at my 65 limit of classes that will transfer . I’m just using the fall to retake classes for an A in all of them . Contact kingwood they are pretty good about answering questions . Also at some colleges you will need nutrition, depending on where you’re trying to transfer to .
