They all send out email at the same time! Usually in the morning!

If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. I’m going into my second semester at the Kingwood campus in August. I was accepted off of the alternate list with a 7.456 last admission period. I ended up getting 2 A’s and 1 B (89.04 lol) my first semester!! If you are going to the Kingwood program, I’d personally suggest taking pharm before getting in. It will be a load off your back. I took it during the fall of last year before I got in. Also I’d recommend taking your micro and a&p 2 early if you haven’t yet. That is less stress for you. It is very competitive getting in but I’m doing well and I was accepted as an alternate so keep your heads high! You will get in and do well 🙂 Again, if you have any questions, let me know. My email is ChrystalPJackson@icloud.com if you need to email personally. I’m here to help as much as I can.

What were clinical like? Do we all do the same rotations once the program starts or does it depend on the clinical location? Is it super hands on the first semester or more observing? Haven't heard many clinical experiences so I'm curious! Thanks for all the insider information so far!! 🙂

It all depends on your clinical instructor. Some people said their instructors were more strict but my clinical instructor was amazing and very laid back. She didn’t grade hard at all. She was very personable and graduated from lone star as well. She kind of knew what we were going through and could relate. For the first semester, they divided us amongst 2 facilities. We mainly dealt with elderly patients. We got to perform skills as we checked off on them. So if you didn’t pass (for example) medication administration check offs, you couldn’t pass any medications to patients. We were very hands on. We worked closely with all medical staff (RNs/LVNs/CNAs/Physical Therapy/Doctors)! We worked from 630am-5pm once a week. You can pick which clinical day you wanted out of Monday/Tuesday/Friday or Saturday. Whichever day you picked, that was your day each week for the entire semester. So try to pick a day that is convenient for you. I know some people work while in school. I wish we could get the same clinical instructor every semester but I believe it changes up each semester so I’m bummed. I loved my instructor lol
