I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.
Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.
I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter!
If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

Anyways, I got accepted into the Kingwood Nursing Program! Went to orientation, and I'm SO excited!!!! I've been waiting for this and working soooo hard for years!
Did yall get the email today that said we have all been enrolled in classes? I thought that was odd since they originally said we had to have our blue card turned in prior to registration! But I checked my schedule out & I got Mon & Tues. Evening classes & Sat. Clinical.
I'm still a little worried about getting my blue card. I may have something minor on my background check from years ago that I had completely forgot about. So hopefully it comes back ok, but if not I will just have to clear it up & start the program next year.
I got my fingerprints done on Nov. 17th... So it's been a month now & still nothing. I thought they said it would take 2 weeks? Has anybody else gotten their blue card yet? And how long did it take for you?!?
I received my blue card within a week and half...I went on Dec. 2nd and got it in the mail this past Sat. which was the 12th. Maybe u should call them to see whats takin so long...I wish u the best and thanks for joining us...I've definitely been on a roller coaster ride lol

I got my card about two weeks ago. I have the same schedule (Mon & Tues evening lecture and Sat clinical) too. They said that if there is something that comes up on your background check the BON would send you a letter. It was mentioned in the nursing information session earlier this year that they do a very thorough check and if there is ANYTHING on your record you should attempt to get it cleared upfront with the BON since the process is lengthy. You should definitely call the BON to check the status. If something is holding up your clearance you can start working on it now and it might be resolved by the time classes start. Good luck and hopefully you will be getting your blue card in the mail very soon!
not in the program or anything but will a single speeding ticket potentially deny me of entry into the RN program? I got one at about 1am a month or two ago. Prior to that, my record has been clean for over 4 years of no violation whatsoever.

The answer to your first question is no, you will not get denied of the program b/c of a single speeding ticket. However, I do not know about other violation nor do I know how long a record needs to be clean to pass a background check. Also, I do not know how "clean" it need to be. That will be something you need to ask the nursing department yourself. If it were me, I would personally write down all the questions I have about the program then physically go to the department and ask your questions. When calling on the phone, (from my experience) they are real short with you and seem as if they do not want to be on the phone in the first place. I think this is so because they are sooooo busy with the active nursing students, potential nursing students, applicants, etc. But that's what I would do...just keep writing down the questions I have and when you feel ready bring them to the nursing department and they will answer them.
Yes i am, retook my psych 2301 over the winter minimester. So i'm just waiting for the application period to open. I hope i make it in this time (3rd time). I will have a 11.47xx point wise this time. Really hope i make it in.
