Lone Star Kingwood 2010

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! :nurse: I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday :D and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.

Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.

I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter! :banghead:

If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

I've read every post and I haven't seen any mention of CLEP tests. How does CLEP credit for English and Psyc fit into the 12 points equation?

What are class schedules in general terms? I'll be applying to the online ADN program - I have a master's degree. Is it possible to do the labs and clinicals only on weekends? If not, when do evening classes begin? I'm hoping to keep my current job while going to school.

Hi Jpc,...If I could answer ur question, I would...Sorry, but I don't know the answer to that...But u should call the school.;)

Coulter,

Sorry you're having a hard time with Micro! At least we're almost done though!

I moved here from New Orleans after Katrina. We lived in Gentilly near UNO and Dillard if you're familiar with that area.... It was a big change and I had a rough time adjusting at first but now that I've "made friends" with my neighbors and started to get out of the house more I'm happy here. I stay home with my kids all day so that got kinda boring...

I am soooo excited about starting school.... We have plenty to keep us busy til Jan. 19th (first day of class!!!!)

Well that's cool! It's rough in the beginning but it grows on you I guess. I won't ever move back to that area. Maybe closer to home but not there. Yes I'm familiar with Gentilly, I have family that lives all over! Chalmette, Gretna (got a lot of friends that live on the Westbank), Slidell, Hammond, Violet, some of my family even lived in the lower ninth ward....lol. Not anymore of course since Katrina. I miss it a lot, but gotta do what I gotta do ya know? So how are you feeling about our SAINTS? You gotta be proud!! lol

So, I'm a little confused about how to go about taking Pharm....should I register now or what? It says on the sheet they gave us that we can take it online or on certain days....so I don't know if I should register now or wait until I register for all my classes...I'm gonna take it online. What should I do?

I cant buy books now because I have to wait on my call...But mentally I'm so ready to buy them..I want to get everything out the way, but unfortunately I need a def. yes before I start spending that kind of money. Has anyone priced the books for the required ones? If so pls post the average price for all. Thanks! Just the total, not individual.

We really need to form a study group, but I only want people that are serious about getting through. I am getting older, although some may not think 26 is old, it is to me..I've wasted soooo much time...So if ur serious and interested in a study group let's get together and make it through. Wait!!!! let me get in 1st lol Hold that response...lol

I ordered all my books already I spent $562 in total (10 books). The required books were $518 and i got 2 recommended books for $43. I wet online and looked in amazon, barns and nobel. and ebay.Iaso spent $50 on scrubs and lab jacket. And I would like to be in a study group.

Does anyone know if all the books on the list are available at the Kingwood bookstore??? I tried looking at the online bookstore and it's saying the book lists aren't available. Maybe they aren't loaded yet but I need to start budgeting for everything. It is Christmas time and I do have 3 kids.... lol!!!! Oh and what kind of stethoscopes are y'all buying??? I think I'm gonna look at allheart.com and maybe get one engraved with my name. I've read on a few other threads that they "mysteriously grow legs and walk off" so maybe if my name is on it permanently that won't happen lol!

The bookstore will have all the books but they dont have them up yet. The books are cheaper if you go on amazon, ebay, or half.com.

Hi the points come from the grade points you make divided by 3 in psych, eng, and anat. Then ,by taking the core courses 4pt ,and your hesi score up to 4points.Find out what grade point your clep scores are.You might need to call clep or speak with a lonestar college advisor about geting your clep scores evaluated and converted into standard grade points for the nursing program.

Hey guys, I'm a level 2 student at Kingwood and just wanted to tell you all congratulations!! If I can give you one piece of advice it is to BE PREPARED. If you can get your hands on the syllabus, start reading before the semester even starts. Some of the unit tests are over 10 chapters and more. That is in addition to your clinical care plans and weekly lab assignments. It is ALOT of information. Also, if you are used to making A's in everything you should get used to B's. Good luck to you all and have FUN :yeah:

Oh and definitely buy your books from Amazon or Ebay. The bookstore is ridiculously expensive!

I am innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I'm so happy I wanna cry....Thank U JESUS!!!!Ok gotta buy books now And yes Coulter,Nina, and Camemile... we should meet up. If I left some1 out sorry...We may need only 4 people...What do u guys think???JUst don't want it too big, sometimes that can be a prob.

I was born and raised a Saints fan... Them boys in BLACK and GOLD are on their way to the SUPERBOWL baby!!!

As far as Pharm... they said they would register those who need it once all the background checks are processed. I believe they said the Pharm classes are blocked from registration anyway (only they can access it for the Spring).

Congrats!!!! We should definitely find a way to exchange info so we can start our study group.
