Hello everyone!
I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday
and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.
Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.
I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter!
If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat
quote=Mz.Eboni;3939426]Awh thanks for being so helpful..great information:specs:so as for now just do like my common application for and then closer towards January I do my nursing stuff rite? Are you in the program rite now?how do you find out how many students each one takes and how does the point system work sorry but im really nervous/scared!]
Right now you will not be able to apply because the application period for Kingwood and Cy Fair closed on Sept. 15 and I think they won't open it again until next Fall. Montgomery, NH, and Tomball app periods begin in Jan and you will have to wait until it opens. I believe they will be doing that in Jan. As of right now, I would try and do the stuff that you can do like immunizations and records, cpr class (make sure it is the right one. I think For Healthcare providers is the one you need. Check up on that b/c different schools may require a different cpr class). Get pharm and Micro out of the way. Right now, as far as taking the HESI and applying, you will only be able to do it during the app period. It sucks, I know. I was the same way, like what can I do RIGHT now, but there's nothing. lol Hope this helped.
Click on this link and you will see the selection criteria and this goes for all the schools in the Lone Star district. This is what they go by when applying and basically you wanna try and get as close as you possibly can to 12 points.

Okay all of your information helped! It is kinda of a hassle waiting to get everything done but Im just trying to be patient. But the reason I was asking about applying was because I have never took classes at Lonestar before and though I do that application way before I do the nursing application. Also Im a lil nervous grade wise so Im going to try and retake some classes in a minimester. I really appreciate everybody's help!
If you don't understand it, I will help, just let me know.
Awwww I would love to have kids some day. I just pray to the good Lord that when I"m ready to have kids I am able.
Yes, if I was u I wouldn't let another year go by neither. A little further drive wouldn't hurt except for the gas cost lol but if u believe in God U should know that He will always provide and make a way. I don't mean to be sooooo religious lol, but I just love Him sooooo much. He has blessed me tremendously and I thank Him
Anyways, I did my schedule for days as my first choice..It's so weird that I'm an alternate and I got so much info and I also paid for the drug screen too. I just hope that I'm not wasting money, but honestly I waste money all the time on unnecessary stuff so at least this is a good cause. Thanks for doin this thread I really appreciate it... Also don't worry bout moving so soon, ur home is soon coming. This is just the beginning of your success.
Just waiting...I thought I would for sure get in with 11.4044, but I'm an alternate. I spoke to the director and she said, she thinks I'm 4 sure getting in so she gave me the other info on drug screen and background check. That was good news! I pray that I get in and I also pray that my :redbeathesister gets in 2. We know we're gonna be nurses just don't know when. Congrats to all that are accepted! This is the beginning of your success journey. GET READY!
So the nursing program tried to fit in the alternate too. That's a good thing. I'm really torn on what to do. retake the hesi or not. . Good luck to all that made it in.

Oh I'm not worried about moving so soon, but we have our own family and it gets hard at times thinking about how we've done things backwards as far as babies, marriage, school. Lol, that's just about how it went too. BUT, my inlaws just took an assignment in New Orleans for 4 years and we are "taking care" of their house while they are gone. So its a good thing too, b/c they would've had to sell it otherwise and they really didn't want to do that. And we have our privacy again along with quality time with our son. They've spent soooo much time and money on making this house the way they've always wanted their house to look. I'm truly blessed to have such wonderful in-laws b/c without them, I (we) wouldn't know what to do or where we would be. They've gone above and beyond to figure out ways to make everything work for us! So I know what ya mean.....God is great for sure!
I don't think you wasted your money at all! You will get in. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't get your hopes up like that too......like...congrats...your an alternate...then here's all the info you need.....see ya at orientation too....then say sorry nope your not in....I don't think they would do that!
Hi Thangborn,
Do not give up? Ur time is coming soon! We will all soon be nurses. What did u make on hesi and what was ur final score? I made a b on reading part of hesi, either 85 or 87 (not 4 sure which one) and 94 on math. Also I'm not retaking hesi neither lol. Only bcuz what if I make lower, I'm not willin to take the risk. I have all A's in those 3 courses, but b4 I didn't. I retook psyc to make an A, I had a B b4. If u need to take psch over, I will give u the teacher name and I could also def help u in the class. It was online at HCC, I still have notes and tests. It's good to help people out, We're all tryna get through this...Pls don't get discouraged;) My final score is 11.4044 and I know that North Harris cut off is 11 so we'll get in that program 4 sure.

give up?? me?? NEVER!!! I know what i want and i will do quit a bit to get it. I'm currently in the situation you were in. I need to retake psychology (got a b), and will retake it for an A. i got a 86.96 on the reading grammer part and a 96% on the math. If only i knew that the dang B would hold me back; i would of retaken that class last semester.

(almost have my AS... will have 63 credits by the end of this semester).. i will have to see about the class though.. anyone happen to konw when he deadline for the next application period ends?? need to know so i can plan things out.. yea. the RN thing is really competitive now a days.. the health industry just exploded and looking for medical personals. Yes I have a beautiful 3 year old little boy! And I'm doing all this for him!!! lol So I kinda can't afford to wait any longer. We live with my in laws, my husband is working his butt off (he's a police officer) and we need our own house, so waiting another semester to apply to a closer college wasn't an option for me. I know what ya mean about the kid thing...my husband's the same way! lol
