Lone Star Kingwood 2010

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a new thread for kingwood/cyfair applicants. This is the moment I have been waiting for for 2 years! :nurse: I will be turning in my application when I return from vacation next week. My score is at 11.489 as of yesterday! I took the Hesi....again....yesterday :D and will be going on vacation Mon. I don't think my score has gone in yet either.

Anyway...I'm hoping that my score will be good enough for this time around. What was everyone elses score? I think the cut off the last couple years has been 11.4.

I have created this thread because I know that this site has been extremely helpful for me! And I want to return the favor for whoever else is applying or working towards applying! Also, in order for us to chat or whatever else while we are waiting soooo long for a letter! :banghead:

If ANYONE has any questions...just ask and I will try the best of my ability to answer it. I know quite a bit about this program, so I'm sure I can help in some way! :heartbeat

I've been looking at other threads and some seem so supportive. Hope this one be like that. Denise, do u know where you r at on the alternate list?

I would've answered but I really don't know anything about the alternates. Everyone on this thread has been extremely supportive; you just have to be patient. Sometimes questions are not answered for a couple days.

If I could answer your questions, I would. Sorry

You wouldn't register for the HESI until they post the dates the test is available during the application period. So if you're applying for Fall 2010, the application period would be sometime between January 2010 and March 2010 and that is when you would register to take the HESI. I would contact your first choice campus and find out what the process is for taking the HESI there since your scores will be available for all the campuses to view anyway. The application will have a place for you to rank your preference for the campus you want to attend. They go down the list starting with those with the highest scores and when they get to your name they will see if space is available at your first choice then second choice and so on until all the spaces at all campuses are filled.[Awh thanks for being so helpful..great information:specs:so as for now just do like my common application for and then closer towards January I do my nursing stuff rite? Are you in the program rite now?how do you find out how many students each one takes and how does the point system work sorry but im really nervous/scared!]

no I don't know what number I am sorry, but don't worry I read that they try to get mostly all the alternates in. U should be just fine. Try not to worry 2 much. Has everyone taken pharm and what about cpr. I took pharm, it was a good class at NH and I just did the cpr.. Also what about hep b shots. I did mine years ago so I gotta get a titer. Just tryna be prepared 4 when they do call. Coulter how old r u and what side of town do u live on.

ok thanks..ill try not to worry so much!

I'm 23. And I live in The Woodlands. I'm closer to Montgomery, but I really can't afford to wait much longer. I'm ready right now!! lol What about you?

And as for the alternates...I think of it this way....not ALL of the students accepted are going to attend, so I wouldn't worry about it. Your an alternate for a reason and if they didn't think they could fit you in, they wouldn't have you as an alternate. :D

I haven't taken Pharm yet, but I will online. Probably in a mini mes. I don't know yet. We'll see what they say at orientation. CPR, I will take before Jan for sure! I can't see dealing with "another class" when I can have it done before we start.

Just waiting...I thought I would for sure get in with 11.4044, but I'm an alternate. I spoke to the director and she said, she thinks I'm 4 sure getting in so she gave me the other info on drug screen and background check. That was good news! I pray that I get in and I also pray that my :redbeathesister gets in 2. We know we're gonna be nurses just don't know when. Congrats to all that are accepted! This is the beginning of your success journey. GET READY!:yeah:[YAY!! I REALLY HOPE YOU GET IN..SO CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THE POINT SYSTEM GOES?AND DO I START BY JUST DOING A COMMON APPLICATION TO LONESTAR COLLEGE??]

Thanks for the kind words. I'm 26 and I live near the galleria so it's gonna be quite a drive 4 me to go to kingwood, but it's well worth it. I'm so ready as well. lol also congrats to u

Right now you will not be able to apply because the application period for Kingwood and Cy Fair closed on Sept. 15 and I think they won't open it again until next Fall. Montgomery, NH, and Tomball app periods begin in Jan and you will have to wait until it opens. I believe they will be doing that in Jan. As of right now, I would try and do the stuff that you can do like immunizations and records, cpr class (make sure it is the right one. I think For Healthcare providers is the one you need. Check up on that b/c different schools may require a different cpr class). Get pharm and Micro out of the way. Right now, as far as taking the HESI and applying, you will only be able to do it during the app period. It sucks, I know. I was the same way, like what can I do RIGHT now, but there's nothing. lol Hope this helped.

Click on this link and you will see the selection criteria and this goes for all the schools in the Lone Star district. This is what they go by when applying and basically you wanna try and get as close as you possibly can to 12 points.

Well thank you. We're almost there!!! lol ugh....Galleria huh? That sucks. But I'm not anywhere close to Kingwood either. Got about 45 min drive..give or take

Hi Eboni, well coulter summed everything up. I know it seems like it's a hassle, but it will be well worth it at the end.

Yeah, but u know some people leave town to go to school so I'm blessed that I'll be near fam. It's maybe a 40-45 min drive 4 me 2. Do u have kids? I don't have any unless u wanna count my bf as a kid lol.
