Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

Same here! I just sent an email to cyfair campus because everyone should have had the same opportunity.

I’m not even upset that those who had the HESI scheduled before corona got the opportunity to take it - that’s fair game. But those who are given the opportunity to resubmit their application with a higher score are given an unfair advantage over the people who applied early. I submitted my application the day it opened and now we’re being thrown under the bus because of the deadline extension. The early bird did not get the worm this time.

Same! I have never heard of this in the history of applying to Lone Star nursing program. I’ve been trying since 2025 to get in!

I totally feel you on this; I submitted my app Jan 31st! Lone Star is really doing the most right now and I’m over it.

It’s very unfortunate. While it’s nice that some people have benefited from the extension I don’t think they realize it’s a dagger to the heart for people who are on the cusp of getting accepted to see them getting the additional advantage of resubmitting their application. Thankfully this will all be over soon and hopefully you get accepted to a program.

I’m not upset about those not having their HESI done and being able to complete it online with the extension or even the fact that it’s more competitive because of some classes ending. My issue with Lonestar is that they are allowing some to pull applications and resubmit and denying others. I'm also sure that it isn’t intentional and different people may be offering students different opportunities but it should all be on one accord. 4 months ago I was pretty confident with my 7.5, but the times have changed since I first submitted.

Same I sent it in January there’s no changing I’m okay with wherever at this point... I’m just ready to know & move on to getting all the stuff needed & reorganize my schedule

I still think I’ll be okay for some reason a lot of people aren’t really gunning for cyfair. I did get a swift response though and she basically said it could be redone once the grades post officially.

Well I’m not so confident about my first choice of Montgomery since there is only 40 seats and that I see a lot of 7.9’s applying. My second choice is tomball . So I’ll be happy with either or . Kinda leaning for tomball at this point. I’m expecting my second Choice now with all this going on.

Hell I’m expecting to get into my third choice now. These scores are getting higher and higher as the app cycles continue.

I just wanted to share that this extension of the deadline to June 12 has been an advantage for some, including me... although I know not everyone here will feel the same way. I am one of a few people in my May Minimester English class that are specifically there in order to raise our scores for fall admission. I realized too late in January exactly how this whole points system worked, and it was too late then to change anything. I had a B for the class they counted as English from my previous school, from like 10 years ago ? (I hadn't paid attention because for a while I wasn't considering LSC)

My goal is Montgomery for this fall. With an A in English, my score will be go from a 7.4 to a 7.9. I confirmed with the admissions office they will withdraw my application so I can reapply before the deadline, once my new English grade is in after the class ends May 31.

I hope everyone has been doing OK through this whole thing, good luck to everyone and I hope we get to meet in class this fall!

Was it admissions that told you you could resubmit your application or was it the nursing director?

Reading all these responses got me thinking I’m not going to have a shot at Spring semester at Cy Fair ?

I’m at a 7.77, and I won’t be able to apply for Spring semester until June 15th (due to me having to wait four weeks to redo my titer since I just completed my hep b fast track shots).

Am I at a disadvantage for applying a bit after the application period opens (June 2nd)? Cy Fair and Kingwood are the only campuses doing Spring, and my best bet is Cy Fair due to location.

I made a 94.40% on my HESI, A’s in all my classes. Now I’m wondering I should retake HESI for the Spring application? Ahhhh, I don’t know what to do anymore.
