Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

Reading all these responses got me thinking I’m not going to have a shot at Spring semester at Cy Fair ?

I’m at a 7.77, and I won’t be able to apply for Spring semester until June 15th (due to me having to wait four weeks to redo my titer since I just completed my hep b fast track shots).

Am I at a disadvantage for applying a bit after the application period opens (June 2nd)? Cy Fair and Kingwood are the only campuses doing Spring, and my best bet is Cy Fair due to location.

I made a 94.40% on my HESI, A’s in all my classes. Now I’m wondering I should retake HESI for the Spring application? Ahhhh, I don’t know what to do anymore.

Dang that’s pretty good. How many students do they take each semester. I wouldn’t retake the HESI tho

I just wanted to share that this extension of the deadline to June 12 has been an advantage for some, including me... although I know not everyone here will feel the same way. I am one of a few people in my May Minimester English class that are specifically there in order to raise our scores for fall admission. I realized too late in January exactly how this whole points system worked, and it was too late then to change anything. I had a B for the class they counted as English from my previous school, from like 10 years ago ? (I hadn't paid attention because for a while I wasn't considering LSC)

My goal is Montgomery for this fall. With an A in English, my score will be go from a 7.4 to a 7.9. I confirmed with the admissions office they will withdraw my application so I can reapply before the deadline, once my new English grade is in after the class ends May 31.

I hope everyone has been doing OK through this whole thing, good luck to everyone and I hope we get to meet in class this fall!

CONGRATS on your hustle! While this news may seem a bit unsettling for everyone who applied early, I commend you on your transparency. Thank you for letting the community know that re-submission is actually possible.

I DO believe that others were told they couldn’t re-submit a month ago, because the climate and circumstances were different then. I’d suggest anyone who is aiming to boost their score should find their testing resource ASAP. Once you have your physical scores to update, it should be a matter of contacting the department and asking them to relinquish your application and allow the system to update automatically, then re-submit.

This doesn’t have to turn into a witch-burning or fear-mongering circumstance. Try to look at it as an opportunity that wasn’t available before, and now it is. Positive vibes, y’all.

Actually it isn’t cool, at least for me specifically, I don’t have time to study and retake the HESI for a higher score. I’m taking mini mester and Summer classes back to back plus I'm having to go back to work, so unfortunately for me it’s very down putting that people are getting more advantages.

No idea - but I’m going to just move forward with what I have. Just really hoping I get accepted ?

Has anyone who emailed their campus heard back? I feel like we can’t believe everything unless it comes from the nursing director themselves..

We can’t find a testing resource when we have already turned in our application and were told they won’t open it up for everyone. This isn’t a witch-burning it’s desperate nursing students who are at our wits end because Lone Star is sabotaging those who applied early.

I did and she said it was possible but if you don’t get an appointment for the HESI this week or early next week then you risk pulling it and not having it submitted in time. Deadline is a little over 2weeks away.

I’m going to keep mine and if it’s for me it’s for me, otherwise I’ll just apply to uthealth fast track BSN and finish in the same amount of time. I’m just short one class for their program ?

Was it admissions that told you you could resubmit your application or was it the nursing director?

I emailed the counselor who gives the Nursing program info sessions at Montgomery. I don't think I'm allowed to say her name on this forum. She said yes as long as the grades are in before the deadline they can count, and cc'd someone who works in the admissions office I think? Her email title says staff assistant II, NaSH division...and that person said to email her once my grade is updated and we will proceed from there.

I'm really sorry for anyone who was told earlier this Spring that they can't unsubmit and resubmit like this... I don't know if it is worth trying to reach out to them again and ask. If I were in your position I would be upset also.

I get why some people may be disheartened by my previous post. I felt like it was still worth sharing, because if it were me I would want to know what the situation is. At the same time like other people are saying, you never know how flooded or not the application pool will be, or who will back out of an offer because of the situation in the fall. All we can do is try.

I was really disheartened earlier this semester until I learned I would be able to retake English. But I was prepared to try my luck anyway with my 7.4 and hope to just get in somewhere and then transfer to Montgomery for the 2nd semester.

Still wish everyone the best of luck. It's crazy that this is the process for getting into a community college.

I second this, even tho I don't need to but you might as we'll reach out again. Id reach out and ask again or ask another director. Especially since they are allowing people to do it. Might as well go ahead and do what you gotta do.

Hearing that some people were told no has me a little worried now though..I mean at least I have the email chain to show them in case they end up changing their minds... but I won't count on them telling me I can resubmit until it actually happens!!
