Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

I think it depends on the school. I know CyFair requires department consent. I was able to enroll in one at Tomball with no issues.

You have to have them manually add it to your schedule. Email registration ?

I have -------------- right now and we use these two. But I know there is a newer edition of the pharm book out already, so you never know.

How were you guys able to take pharm? Every time I go to add it to my class list it says it’s restricted because it’s a nursing course.

Thank you so much!?

So now that schools and universities are closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year, how will the HESI exam be administered? It seems as though the deadline was extended for no reason because now people can't even take the HESI on campus.

Plus Summer 1 will be online, no campuses will be open. I don’t think their deadline extension was for those who haven’t taken the HESI yet but for those who needed more time to get their paperwork together. It also gives those who retook A&P/English a chance to raise their score (sucks for the rest of us) but that means nothing if they can’t take the HESI.

There's isn't really much paperwork needed to apply; just Hep B titer and/or vaccines, AP I or AP II, Engl 1301, and the HESI. The deadline was originally set for April 9, 2020. So the only people who could have still applied were people who finished up an 8 week course in March, completed their hep B series or obtained a titer, and completed the HESI all before April 5, 2020. But because they had to close, alot of people who were scheduled to take test got cancelled and could not select a date to reschedule. I think the HESI is the sole reason why the extended the deadline so far.

I can’t see them extending it again, that’s cutting it way too close for the program to start in August. There has to be enough time to get our titers done, orientation, all that paper work, insurance, back ground checks. They might just say if you can’t apply then try again next year. I’m so ready for this to be over with so we can know if we’re in or not.

I agree with you. Seems to me since the schools won’t be reopening, if they aren’t giving students the option to take the HESI virtually like HCC then it would make sense to just change the deadline back to the initial extension date of April 30th.

I'm sure they won't extend it again. But you're absolutely right! There's so much to do once you get accepted. We'll be finding out if we got in July, a freakin month before school starts. We're already cutting it close LOL!. I'm ready to find out as well. I've applied to other schools just in case Lone Star doesn't pan out.

Yes! That would be make perfect sense at this point. I've heard that some schools are doing the HESI online. I also heard that some testing centers are allowing a certain amount of students to take the HESI at a given time.
