Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Yes, it's on that same sheet that on one side lists the courses, and on the other, gives estimated costs of things like books, stethoscopes, etc.

Yeow....What happened there?! lol...

Oh ok, thanks!

Oh wow- I didn't see anything about supplies from the bookstore?! Im looking at the paper now and I don't see it anywhere. Is it a list of supplies or does it just say a bag of supplies?

I don't see it, either...

It is on the back of the sheet entitled, 'Basic Track Program Cost 2011-2012.' It has 'Additional Program Cost' at the top. It lists: required textbooks; uniforms, watch, stethoscope; vaccines; nursing software, and then 'lab supplies.' I'm assuming we get them from the bookstore, since that is where my LVN friend at Tomball got hers. :)

Hey knightgal I wanted to address your financial aid issue it may be a good thing you haven't heard back I got a reply from my appeal in about two days it was denied.... I then had to appeal the appeal and was given an answer in about a week which was approved!! except I have to do a very stupid verification process in which I had to order a form from the IRS which just arrived in the mail, and I can tell there is going to be problems because they are trying to make sure everything on the staffs the matches up with the correct tax info, and I know my parents info is not going to match because they have not even filed their taxes yet the fafsa the people told me to guess on all that information, so I know I'm in for it....

Candie, thanks for the heads up! I do hope you're right and that no news is good news. It's great that you re-appealed and got approved! I can feel for you re: the IRS form. You've got some extenuating circumstances, and you just wish there was a box there so that you could explain the situation. If they just look at the numbers, and they're slightly off, you have to sit there and worry about whether or not they will think you are trying to pull a fast one on them (which, of course, you are not)! I guess the best thing to do would be to attach a separate sheet of paper to it with a paragraph or two explaining the discrepancies, so that (hopefully) whatever bureaucrat is looking at it will be able to get the whole picture?

The verification process is online hopefully there will be somewhere to explain...I am worried though plus this is the first year ever I am eligible for a grant, not just a loan!!!

Such a pain. The verification is supposed to be "random" but I got selected every time I applied before I was married. My income was zero, and I was independent. There is nothing more annoying than getting proof of NO income!
