Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Badge? Where do we get that?

Did you ever get to apply for WIA? I know it isn't cash, but it's been a lifesaver not having to pay for anything school related out of pocket. Have you looked into any private loans?

By WIA, do you mean the Texas Workforce Commission thingie? Yes, I contacted them, but haven't heard anything yet. They said I would be contacted when funds became available, but that was over a month ago. :(

That's the one! Well, boo. Hopefully funds are available soon! I'm sitting on the wait list for subsidized child care right now and hoping it comes through before the fall or I don't know what I'm gonna do.

I wrote my written appeal last night. I can't remember, did you do the online appeal and get denies and then email a letter? Or is this your first appeal?

I too was denied because of Max timeframe and then they denied my appeal for Max timeframe I had to appeal the appeal and was actually excepted, unfortunately after that I have to do a verification process to make sure everything on the FAFSA matches the tax returns my parents also have to do the same process which involves ordering a form from the IRS and waiting and waiting again for the loan star to approve these forms, lonestar is trying to kill me!

Well I'm glad your appeal was approved! That's great, even though the process is a pain. Who did you submit your second appeal to? I sent my letter to the address KnightGal posted and he replied and said I was already denied at Montgomery and wanted to know if I was trying to appeal again at NH. I thought it was supposed to go to some sort of committee? I don't know. I'm confused.

Yes, this is my first appeal. I had done my FAFSA and waited to hear, then saw they hadn't given me any loans. ;( At that point, I got in touch with someone at NH, and they told me to send the appeal to them. Haven't heard a thing since. Pooh.

I can't understand why you got such an immediate refusal from Mr. Nicanor. He knows I'm at Montgomery, too!

Is it just me, or does it seem as though LSC is a kinda mixed up place sometimes?

Steph, I went to the financial aide office with my appeal they scanned it into the computer and sent it for me, it took a little less than two weeks to hear back, and yes it is done by a comitee not technically financial aide, you should take ur appeal to the FA office, time is running low and if there are issues with the verification process it will take even longer. On a happier note I got my lab kit and ordered my pink littmann which I got for a great deal!! It should be here Friday! And summer nursing starts July 30 for me! Just need one more book...

Oh ok, I gotcha. That's a really long time to wait for your first appeal...I did it last Friday on MyLonestar and had my answer on Monday.

I "think" he's going to forward my appeal to the committee because he can't do anything about it himself because I've already beeb denied. I think. If I don't hear back from him tomorrow, I'm going to go to the college.

Thanks Candie! I'm probably going to take it up there tomorrow, and you're right, time is definitely running out! Then I read we don't even get loan dispersal until after our 30th day of class ? What the heck? I've only taken out loans once at a four year college, but it was it took ONE WEEK from filling out the FAFSA to getting my aid approved and we got our money before class even started.

I'm so over community college already. But tomorrow is my first day of class! Yay!

Oh! What's the lab kit like???

Let us know what it's like!!

Yes, I was told it would go to a committee, too. I think, though, that I'm going to write to them tomorrow. It will have definitely been 30 days by then.
