I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!
There is a difference between graduation rate, and NCLEX pass rate. I have found that a lot of schools have high nclex passing rate, but very few have good graduation rates. Might want to clarify and that is also something i am trying to find out about this school. For example, Lamar State College is NOT a good program to attend. I know that for a fact, don't believe me, check the board of nursing.

Well, that's because a weeding out process is the best way to make sure people who probably won't pass the NCLEX don't TAKE the NCLEX. By failing them out. That's also why we have to pass the HESI to graduate...it's a NCLEX predictor.
Accreditation is a based on a formula of pass rate AND graduation rate...so you can't fail out 95% of a class, have a 100% pass rate, and still be accredited. I'm willing to bet money that that's why we heard very different things from two different classes from NH. They needed to do things differently or there would've been trouble, I'm thinking. A 35% retention doesn't look good.
For Tomball section 3001 (8-12p) and 3002 (12:30-4:30p) classes begin 07/23. for sections 3003 (8-12p) and 3004 (12:30-4:30p) classes begin 08/06.
Step 1 - meet with an advisor to register in the class section you are assigned to.
Step 2 - take the printed schedule to get your "Nursing Student" I.D. (they want to see that you are in the nursing program before they give you a "Nursing Student" I.D.)
Step 3 - you will need either your new I.D. Or schedule to pick up books from the bookstore because they only order enough books to cover the enrollment amount, no extra textbooks are available for students outside the program. Therefore you either need the I.D. or a printed copy of your schedule to get the required books, uniform patches, ECT.
I don't know how much the books are at the bookstore but I highly suggest ordering them from lww.com and using that 20% discount code. It's a really good discount - 20% off EACH item. Ps- the "packages" are listed as "out of stock" but that is only because they are packages and need to be put together before being shipped.
Anyone attending the Tomball nursing program Fall 2012 please let me know if you are allowed to choose your own classes. I have heard they assign them. Is this true? For the summer 2012 course are you assigned or can you choose the section that fits best? It is a two week class correct? Please let me know.

I was assigned to Memorial Hermann Katy which is awesome cause I live like 5 minutes from there
... but that's only for the summer cause we rotate hospitals and can't have all clinicals in the same location or with the same instructor.
I wish I lived 10 minutes from campus like you do lol
... it takes me at least 45 minutes to get to CyFair (I live in Cinco Ranch) but it's worth it cause I really love the campus (took my pre-reqs there too) and their nursing program!
Good luck to y'all with your first semester
