Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

@angenoir

For the fall I have 9 credit hours. I am not going to enroll in any classes outside the program or I will max out my credit hours and not be eligible for the Pell grant. I am only one course short from being gen ed complete for transfer to Texas Tech SON or two short for UHV. I think I am one short for UTHSC as well. I might take it next summer so I would only have to file an appeal during my last semester.

My loan appeal was denied, it was obvious from their comments that they didn't even read the appeal, going to have to come up with funds on my own ?

Oh no, I'm sorry. :(. That's terrible.

Sorry to hear that, Candie. I am just getting ready to submit mine. I guess I won't stay hopeful! :(

That is just horrible news!!! Can you appeal the appeal?

Yes I'm going to appeal Monday that is the last day i can appeal I wanted to do it sooner but I have to email the director of financial aid and they did not supply that email address and I can't find it anywhere on loan stars website, however it was obvious they did not read my apeal they kept saying I was on the associate of science Major when I plainly stated I had recently switched to the nursing major well see what happens. They also told me it is impossible to get approved when you over the max timeframe which I know from other people if not the truth

That is definitely NOT true. I know plenty of people who have been approved, although I've heard it's much harder when you're at the beginning of a program than at the end with just a few credits to go. I also think it's easier when you finished a degree and getting another one, but I know it totally depends on the attitude of the committee.

Good luck to you!

Am I the only person that is having a hard time trying to finish all the reading that was assigned with the kids home for the summer? I'm trying to get so much accomplished and they are so bored and I feel like I can't think straight, much less read anything, with them all over my house. I'm ready to start the program but I know that I won't be studying at home while they are here :) lol I need to do something with them that is cheap, but no matter what they get bored as soon as we walk in the door. Plus I have one boy, and one girl and they fight like crazy! Ugh

I'm dying. Between pharm and Fundamentals reading and 3 kids at home...I'm dying. I can't concentrate or absorb anything!

We did not get any assigned reading at orientation. What I am having a hard time with is reading for the class I am currently taking, I keep finding myself reading parts of the fundamentals book instead of my govt book. lol

Would it have been possible for the authors of our 'Fundamentals' book to get the type any smaller? I think I need an eye exam. And don't feel bad, Stephalump. I'm not absorbing much of it, either, just trying to slog my way through.

Candie, I think the person you need to contact is Juan Nicanor. His email address is [email protected].
