Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

I just got the same message re: the CPR. On another note, I also called Katie in the nursing department at MoCo to ask about whether I could print out the form for the physical that's on the website and take it to Walgreen's for that $39 special. She said we would be getting a form for the physical at orientation and that she didn't think it had been finalized yet, but thought that they would honor the one that's on the website right now. Should I chance the $39?

GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE! I received an acceptance letter from Tomball today! Now to begin working down the list of required things to complete. My CPR certification does not expire until Jan. 2013, so I think I will wait to renew it during the holiday break at that time. Anyone else get a letter from Tomball? I do not actually live in that area, but I have wheels and will travel.

What a day!!!

congrats kalisefer. i had a feeling you were good to go!

@kinghtgal: i used the one online because its pretty much the same one that they gave to my friend last time. i went ahead and did it, b/c my co-pay is more than $39. it just depends on what is easiest for you

Congrats, Kalisefer! Glad you didnt have to wait too long! How far of a drive are you looking at?

Gmarks,, go you! I feel like I'm so far behind, even thought we haven't even been to orientation haha.

KnightGal, I don't know...who did you speak to? There has to be someone else who could give a more definitive answer than that. Do you know how much a normal physical at Walgreens is? If it's say...$49, I don't think I'd chance it over $10. But if it's a super big savings, I think I'd try to get an answer from the school again in a week or so and go for it if you still get a "maybe" or "probably."

Congratulations, kalisefer!

Thanks for the heads up, gmarks!

Stephalump: I spoke to Katie. I think I will go ahead and do it, because I don't have any insurance at the moment, so going to my doctor is going to be at least $75.00. :(

Congrats kalisefer!! I still have received nothing. I'm hoping this is a good sign, and that I was accepted into North Harris. My gut won't stop turning though! Gah!! Just send me letters already! I want to know!

megablack,

Thank you. Someone reported getting accepted at Tomball with an 11.1 and it was their second choice school. I am sure you are in at North Harris, the mail is just slow!!

Congrats to everyone!!!! And those who are waiting hang in there. Do not give up even if you get a spot as an alternate, you could be called as many students have applied to BSN programs and are waiting for acceptance, or might not complete the list of things to do before the deadline.

KnightGal,

I did my physical at Walgreens for $39. The school will accept it. I know what you mean about not having insurance. The insurance the school has listed in your packet is not expensive, I purchased it.

Stephalump: the drive is not that bad. I am not sure exactly how far milage wise, but I live near I-10 west at the sam houston toll road, on the Katy side. I just shoot up the beltway and hit 249, it is smooth sailing, except for the toll booth right before U.S. 290.

I feel worlds better now that I have received that letter. I now have to find a part-time job with flexable hours.

gmarks: Thanks, for some reason I also had a feeling I was good to go!

As of this morning, I still haven't received a letter. SIGH! Although, my gut tells me I shouldn't worry, I do! Maybe today is the day.....

Signed,
