Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

I only applied to Montgomery because I take care of my Mom and it is very close to home. Otherwise, NH has many more openings and the more likelihood of a positive outcome for applicants! :)

Just heard back from the woman at The Woodlands Emergency Training place, and the CPR class for healthcare providers there is $65 if you pay by credit card and $60 if you pay in cash. I looked at the Montgomery County Health Dept. website, and it looks like their class is $45. At this point, I think I will wait and see what they tell us at orientation. Maybe there is somewhere else that costs less?? Anyway, here's the County link:

""letters from north harris will be mailed out next week" is the response received today from north harris.

hang in there!

Ugh, so much waiting! I'm not jealous. But soon enough the long wait will just be a painful memory and you'll be getting ready for classes!

Tlcarter, I dont even know why you're worried. Someone with a lower score got into Moco, which means you would definitely get in there if NH was full for some freakish reason. So since you didnt get a letter from Moco, there's only one reason (unless you made some tragic application error or something)...you got into your first choice! :).

KnightGal, $65? Ugh! So expensive. I may end up having to wait to do some stuff until my scholarship stuff comes in...I was hoping to get it all out of the way, but it's adding up fast! I guess I'd better take advantage of that discount on physicals at Walgreens!

No letter again today  !!!!The anticipation is killing me!

Thanks for the heads up kalisefer! I didn't see that score until I browsed through the forum search and found the other forum. You've brought happiness to my weary heart!

And tlcarter99 - I'm glad I've got my hangin' buddy with me! I'll keep you updated on my status so we can keep track of what is happening. And I'm positive you got in! But I understand that no matter how high your score, you just want that piece of paper that confirms everything.

Haven't been able to check the mail today. My husband(bless him...and curse him!) confiscated my mail key so I wouldn't obsessively check to see if the mail has come. I'm guessing nothing will come from NH until next week, yuck.

Edit: just saw that letters won't be mailed out until next week. UGGH!! Hang in there with me my NH buddies!

What are blue cards?

I believe they have something to do with background checks.

Forget what I said about Mont. County and a $45 fee for CPR. I just brought up the actual form after talking to someone there, and they, too, want $65. Think I will wait for orientation to see if there is anything cheaper.

Also, if any of you up this way are going to get your finger prints done, the place is off of N. 336 Loop (east). Go over the bridge and past the Pepsi plant. It will be down a little ways on your left. I had to call them on my way there yesterday, because I didn't know that the numbers descend and then start going back up again on that road (as well as odd and even switching sides!)

Blue cards is a card that you will recieve in the mail from the BON (board of nursing) showing that you passed the federal background check. You should bring this card with you to orientation.

@ Julienizon A blue card is a statement from the BON printed blue card stock about the size of a post card or larger size index card saying that your background check is clear. You have to watch carefully for this card to come in the mail so you do not miss it or accidently throw it away with those rediculous weekly circulars that fill up your mail box.
