Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

gmarks: just out of curiosity, when are the letters of intent do at Montgomery?

Don't lose hope Kalisefer! On our little list, you're right under someone who got into their first choice, and I know people with lower scores who have made it into NH in the past. I know last semester was a blow, but there are a lot more spots in the Fall so it's definitely more in your favor! As far as I know, only Moco has sent out letters, and they weren't your top choice, so it's all good! The letters of intent are due April 20th and orientation is mid-May....for us, at least!

I just called North Harris and spoke with the coordinator. She stated, "there was a delay in the receipt of the list from the Board of Nursing, so not all letters have been sent out at this time." She also said, "to give it until the end of next week and if a letter had not been received by then, to call and check again."

Hopefully, this will provide some relief to those who have not received their letters. Yet, this adds another week and a half of anticipation to the dreaded wait.

Hang in there and don't lose hope!

And thanks, gmarks. I live in Magnolia, but I don't mind driving a bit if it's just for a day or two. But with gas prices the way they are, I may just break even if I find a cheaper class further away from me :-/

Thanks Stephalump!!!

With patience and perseverance I shall overcome what may seek to challenge me!!

Thank you for your kind words of support and encouragement!

Here is to sharing another night waiting for a little letter to be delivered to our mailboxes. This is something I am likely not to forget the remainder of my life. I am learning how important it is to reply promptly when someone is waiting for a reply!

Cheers to that! And on a side note, kalisefer, don't give up hope! This will be my third semester appling to nursing schools(two didn't work out because my husband's work made him move), and sometimes it's hard to remember that we made it this far...we WILL go all the way! Put your faith in whichever deity you celebrate and know that you are going to make it with perseverance. :)

stephalump: its $45 and she said that its like 2hrs long. i'm going to her next tuesday class at 10am. she has them like 3x a week, but they are small classes so that way it don't take as long :)

The Woodlands Fire Department offers CPR courses, but I don't know what they charge (if anything). I'm going to call later today and check on it, but if someone wants to look them up, here is link:

knightgal: If you find out the price would you please let me know. I called and left a message, and I'm waiting on a return phone call. I want to do whatever is cheapest.

@ everyone looking for a physical: I went to Walgreens today and the lady told me that the sale for $39 ends for adults (over 18 yrs old) on April 23rd. Just trying to share the information.

The receptionist told me the lady who schedules the CPR classes is out of the office today, so she should call back tomorrow. Here's hoping it's cheap and easy! ;)Thanks for the physical info, gmarks! I just turned in my LOI so now I need to get on all the other stuff, I guess!

Yay! Cpr is all I have left.. then i'll be ready to spend all my money on uniforms, books, and etc after May 14th. Thanks for the update :)
