Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough.
You must hand deliver an application to your first choice campus. I'm not sure if the website indicates that anywhere, but I went to an info sessions recently and it is still required.
From the LSC website:
Ariannaleigh,
You only submit one hard copy to your first campus of choice. The online application is for both Kingwood and Cyfair. If Kingwood is your first choice, hand deliver the above documents. If Cyfair is your first choice, then do the same but for that campus. This allows your campus of choice to be aware that campus is your first choice. Either way, you will still be considered for both campuses. For instance, if you aren't accepted to one, you may be accepted to the other. But they want to see where you'd rather go so they can take that into consideration.
I have been accepted into the ADN program and here is my advice. Try your best to get high grades in the pre-req classes. Study for the hesi and try to take it after ap so info is fresh in your head. I made a 8.45 on my hesi, I barely passed ap portion I got a 76 and you need a 75 to apply. If you make good grades and pull some high scores on the other parts of the hesi there is still hope. I got a 100 in math, they give you a calculator, just know the conversions, write them on scratch paper as soon as you go into testing room. I had an A in ap1 and a B in ap2, an A in english, work as hard as you can for those grades it will be worth it.
When I attended the information session about two weeks ago, I was told the cut off score for the last entering class at Kingwood was around 7.6. They accept 80 students, and based on the scores of those students, they take the top 80 highest scores. Depending on the pool of applicants, the cut off score differs. I was also told that if you do have a B in any of the courses that are in their own score section(English, A&P, etc) it is unlikely you will get accepted. You must have As in those courses to have a competitive score; having a B lowers your score too much. The instructors were pretty blunt with their responses to questions from students.

shediv,
Yes, it is required. If you don't not hand deliver and application you will not be considered as an applicant.
