2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

@Popism123 I went earlier in the month to another info session and got another handout and there is a paper in there, stating what immunizations/titers that are needed. It said to give to your PCP, which I did, so I hope it was the right one! I went ahead and emailed the dept. contact Valerie (at Kingwood), and asked her about it and also if I could possibly come and show the lab work to make sure everything was in order. Better safe than sorry, right! Also, since I have started the fast track and assuming I don't get the immunity, I'll try another round since it has a 28-day period anyway.

Thanks for the input, I sure hope this all works out!

Hi Everyone,

I'm applying to Cyfair and Kingwood for the Spring 2017 semester. I have A's in both A&P I and ENGL, and I got a 92% on the HESI; that puts me at a 7.68. Hopefully that will be enough to get me accepted into one of the ADN programs.

The Cyfair program is only 4 continuous semesters, right? So it will finish up at the end of Spring 2018?

MikeA1984,

Both programs are four semesters long (Spring, Fall, Spring, Fall), so it will start Jan 2017 and end Dec 2018. At Kingwood there is an option to take the fourth semester over the summer (contingent upon a few requirements), which will allow you to finish in August instead of December. I'm not sure if Cyfair offers the same, but I'm sure you could find out.

What is the point of putting Cyfair or Kingwood as our first choice?

Jeez Louise!! My score is 7.55. I was going to try & apply for Kingwood but it seems my score isn't high enough yet. Plus the drive everyday would be almost 50 minutes. Youch! I'm afraid of retaking the Hesi & scoring lower & not even be able to apply.

Hey guys! I'm looking to apply in Jan 2017 Cy Fair. How exactly are you guys calculating your scores??? I've taken the HESI, overall score 82% B in both A&P and Eng. I know things are going to become more competitive with HCC holding admission 😳

Hi Shantel,

When you click the 'Apply' link on the LSC nursing webpage, it will take you to the Health Occupations Application Login page. All you have to do is login (same username and password for MyLoneStar) and it will take you to the Pre-Application Checklist. Click on 'Score Sheet' to view your score.

Erivee,

Your score is very competitive. I would DEFINITELY apply. You have great chances. Concerning your commute, class is held two days a week with clinical one day a week. There may be clinical sites closer to where you live as well. :-)

How long does it usually take the HESI scores to cross over into Lonestar's systems to let me apply? I made a cumulative 94 on it this morning. I should have a 7.76

I scored a cumulative 90% on the HESI today, so I am at a 7.6. I am so ready to be done with this process!

@HeleD I am also wondering the same thing

My classes are loaded into the application page, & they show up there, BUT it's saying I don't meet the GPA requirements. I know I do thought because I made an A in A&P and a B in English.... Well over the minimum requirement. Any ideas on why this is happening?
