2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

Anyone who has taken the HESI at lonestar... help!! I have been studying the admission assessment exam review from elsevier, study guides, and even quizlet!! Any advice?? Does anyone remember the topics or questions that showed up on the math and AP sections??

I'm not sure if you're allowed to post questions off the actual exam. I seen a few months back some did & a lawsuit was brought up... The admission assessment book helped me 100 % with the Math section. Know ratios & proportions and also measurements. Quizlet helped me for the A&P section. But the questions are so random. I know I had more than a few of the endocrine system. Hope that helps

Can anyone tell me if pharmoclogy is required when applying to lonestar??

Not required but recommended for less load

Alright guys, give me your honest opinion!! I took the HESI at Lonestar and got an overall 89.6 and critical thinking 780. When I apply my point will be 7.568/8. Is this good?? I don't know if that is competitive enough for what they are looking for.

What did you score on the A&P section?

Specializes in Medical-Surgical/Neuro.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I am currently in my second semester in the ADN program at LoneStar-Cy Fair. First semester was a challenge, but I made it! Good luck to everyone and don't force yourself to have to catch up towards finals. I don't know how they're doing it this semester but last semester we only had to exams in intro, 3 exams in health assessment, and 2 exams in skills. The other grades were projects, a paper, etc. Don't underestimate the work load of the program. Good luck to every! Advice I can give is take pharm and micro BEFORE the program starts. You will make it much harder on yourself if you wait until you are actually in the program. If you plan to take pharm... take it online at Kingwood... I believe they are taking this option away this fall.

If you have a B in eng & anp does it help you take them over or does lone star average the grades??

@JamesOakes,ADN,RN I'm not sure if you'll read this but my overall point is 7.568 and my critical thinking was 780...is there any chance of being accepted to any campus???

@erivee Im sorry I just saw this! I scored a 96 in the AP section

Any tips on studying for the A&P portion of the HESI? I got a 60 on it. I'm still in A&P II. I studied through quizlet and the official HESI guide from the HESI Prep team.

Should I be focusing on a specific system? Any process like calcium regulation? Specific bones? Anything would be appreciated!

I would say know the bones and muscles, know muscle contraction, vitamins, hormones..planes. What helped me was doing online practice quizzes. Google practice hesi tests
