2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

NH for me. what was your final score

@gee2017 my score was a 7.586..luckily NH accepts around 150 students! Someone said that for the Spring semester the cutoff for NH was 6.9 and Cyfair was 7.4

that is high as a score. At least better than mine. I think she told me it is only 120 students. more letters go out around 30 alternate in case people drop. Well just few weeks and we will see.

Applied to Montgomery and Kingwood's LVN program. Seriously considering not putting in an application for the ADN program due to my score being so low. Stats are as follows:

LVN Score: 6.3

Hesi: 83.67

GPA: 3.0

Critical Thinking: 860

ADN Score: 5.8 :(

GPA: 2.5-B in A&P 1 and a C in Engl 1301

Good luck to all of you! I'm mentally preparing myself to be denied from both programs. I'll be spending the summer retaking classes to raise my GPA and finishing pre-read so that I can apply to multiple schools.

I applied to LVN as well! I haven't seen many people state that they have so hopefully it's an easy acceptance!

I hope you're right! People in the old threads were applying to both programs just in case they were not accepted into the ADN program. Good luck to you!

how did you guys study for the critical thinking section?

Hey everyone. I am applying with a 7.664. My first choice is Tomball. I am so nervous...

Unfortunately you really can't study for this section! It's think it is designed to test your natural thinking ability and asses how you analyze and handle different a situations.

The questions are usually something like this,

24 year old female, 3 days post op from an appendectomy, complaining about abdominal pain.

What do you do first:

-Check her bandage/incision site for drainage or bleeding

-Take her vitals

-Administer pain medication

-Ask what type of pain (sharp, dull, throbbing)and specific location

The section is prefaced by saying something like, all of these answers are correct but which is most correct. I say just trust your instinct and but also use common sense.

Hi guys! I am applying for the fall semester ADN program (obviously) at Montgomery and Tomball!

My stats are:

ADN score: 7.6

Hesi: 90%

GPA: 4.0

I was hoping for at least a 7.7 because I have heard that Montgomery doesn't usually accept scores lower than 7.5, so I feel like I am too close to that! But it is what it is. Fingers crossed for everyone who applied for this fall!

I would pick the last option, ask what type of pain. What would you pick?

please dont be nervous. your score is pretty high. I met lot of people applying with 7.0. Let's wait and see but i can tell you that your chance est way over 85%

I received a 7.728 for my entry score. Should I be worried?
