Linfield 2021 Spring Cohort Application
Published
Hi y'all, I haven't seen a post on the Linfield 2021 Cohort application so I thought I'd go ahead and create one. I am kind of nervous about this application because I have a little bit of experience (about 3 weeks) working as a caregiver and I have not completed all the prerequisites (I have one Chemistry class in progress which I am taking this Summer term). Here's my stats so far: 4.0 A&P series, 4.0 science lab courses (Microbiology, A&P series, nutrition, Chemistry/biology), no volunteering experience and 2 references from professors. I am kind of scared that I would not get selected about of these reasons... would you guys mind sharing y'all stats also?
I received an e-mail from Linfield. They told me they review all applicants holistically, and that they do factor healthcare experience.
They let me know that my prerequisites are not pre-approved. I took A&P 300 series at Portland State and Nutrition there, too. I am surprised to hear that, but I couldn't imagine them not being approved. Honestly, I was a bit surprised that no one with this similar course background has applied at Linfield in the past. Just my thoughts.
Regarding decisions, Linfield said they expect to send out admission decisions by October 1st.
Good luck to all who've applied.
Hi all, I also applied for the 2021 cohort. I have a similar GPA (all mine sGPA, prerequisite, and A&P) fall right at 3.7-3.8 and I have healthcare experience so I'm hopeful. I spoke to them today as well and they send an email as well as hard mail. I've seen in the past that the email decisions get sent before Oct 1. I also know if you have certain accounts it can get filtered into spam mail. Gmail for example will sometimes put it in the spam folder so just as a heads up. Good luck to everyone!!

I constantly check my email (more periodically now that we are closer to October).. you have pretty good stats by the way! Did you complete all the prerequisites or you still have some in progress?
Ha agreed I'm always refreshing mine as well! And I did have everything completed when I applied I was paranoid because OHSU required it as far as I know so I just went ahead and did them. However I don't think not having them all done is a big deal either. Are you an external transfer?? I know Spring cohort is more friendly to those who aren't existing Linfield students.
Oh okay, then I think that shouldn't cause an issue right? And same here that's why I applied for the Spring term as well. My experience is as a ER scribe manager and I also mentor younger transgender kids (as I'm trans myself). I'm hopeful everything together pushes me in LOL. Especially since my grades aren't all A's ya know

Well hopefully we’ll both get in! I’ve also heard about the new campus Linfield purchased specifically for nursing students which I think is exciting.. my healthcare experience is definitely not as good as yours - I worked as a medication aide for about a month or two before moving to Portland so I don’t think it will do much.. good thing is that Linfield doesn’t care much about experience (from what I’ve heard)
by the way: is your GPA based on the entire prerequisites list or on the A&P, and sciences as well? For what I understood, Linfield focuses more on the lab sciences than others...
Yeah I hope so too. I think any experience is good. Where did you move from?? I know it's less important but they try to view candidates holistically, but I think that depends on a lot anyway. Individually my science GPA is 3.71 and pre reqs total is 3.79 and my A&P is 3.7. However my overall GPA is around 3.37 because of classes I took a while ago when I first started college and didn't care. I know that GPA isn't looked at very closely, and they care more about A&P and lab sciences.

I think your GPA is very competitive! Especially with so much healthcare experience! I’m getting some experience now just in case I don’t get in (always gotta plan for the worst) have you applied to other places besides Linfield?
