Linfield College, Portland - 2016-17

Published

Hi, I just applied to Linfield College in Portland, OR. Are there any former BSN students from these places? Or others who just applied? Would love to connect.

I have also read that Linfield is not strong in clinicals - is this still true? As a graduate, would you still recommend the college? Any info would be super helpful!

I am NOT liking this whole thing with letters coming out in waves, I mean, if I wasn't on here I wouldn't know that letters were being send out anyway, and I'm hoping that no news is good news....but it means I have to keep finding ways to distract myself until the mail runs again the next day!

I feel the same! They should just mass email everyone at the same time the admission decision and then mail the acceptance packet to those accepted. Less waiting time, save on postage, and no waste of paper. But oh well. I am distracting myself too everyday trying not to think about possible rejection. Let's hope for the best and count down to one more week of waiting...

I got my acceptance letter in the mail today! It was for the ABSN program but it didn't say anything about the regular program. It came with a healthcare screening form and the financial aid award.

From what I've heard, if you already have a BS and apply for the fall it is really hard to get in because the undergrads from the main campus get priority. I've been told in that case you have a much better chance for spring entry.

Congrats to those that were accepted, hold in there for those on the waitlist, and keep trying for those that were rejected. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for this...

Congratulations cranges369! Since you already got in, do you mind sharing your stats like GPA, experience, and etc?

And just curious, did they award you with any scholarship to help with tuition?

Congrats!!! To add on to the questions (because I am a nervous wreck over here)... 1. Was it a regular letter envelope or packet? and 2. (please don't feel like you need to share anything super personal), but do you feel like, based on your last name, letters were sent out alphabetically (so I can know if I need to wait another day or even longer)?

Congratulations again! You earned this! I was actually starting to get a little afraid that only main campus students got in, and the rest of us external applicants all got waitlisted or something!

I received a full-sized packet with the acceptance letter, some forms, and the financial aid award. My last name starts with a C so I am not sure about the whole mailing out according to last name thing.

Congratulations cranges369! Since you already got in, do you mind sharing your stats like GPA, experience, and etc?

I had a 3.8 prereq GPA that included a class from 9 years ago that I didn't have time to retake. I do already have a BS and an MS, both in hard sciences. I've been a researcher at OHSU for a while but have grown tired of this life so nursing was the way to go for me. I keep thinking that I wish I had made this choice 10 years ago.

They did offer me the federal loans, a nursing specific loan, and a transfer scholarship. I still have to come up with >50% on my own but I think I have a plan for that.

That's very competitive stats, you definitely earned it :-) My stats are not as good as yours, so I don't know about my chance of getting in....but good to know what type of stats I can aim for if I want to re-apply. Thanks for sharing.

Has anybody gotten ahold of the Admissions office to see where they are on the wait list? I haven't been able to get through yet - I'm sure they are swamped this week!

They're on spring break right now, so there might not be someone available to answer calls.

Reminds me of when my choir teacher would take the day off after releasing solo audition results :)

Actually, I called yesterday and talked to someone. I am towards the end and am #30 out of 40 for the summer start ABSN program. The gal told me that it isn't uncommon for them to go through the entire list for the summer start programs... But you never really know, of course. They are using the wait list until June 9th and according to the website the deposit deadline is May 1st. I guess with 56 spots, you never know.

Good for you, @AMBull! I called and found out I am 19 on the list. So exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. I really hope we know by May 1st - the unknown is killing me! Thanks for all the helpful information/updates :)
