hi all !!
i wanted to start a thread for applicants for 2011 lichson, ill like to hear your process and just be there for all and go through the wait together. i know that hard parts are over with just the gruesome part is here WAITING! hope there some ppl out there going through the same thing as i
"Hmmm where there is smoke there is fire"...I want to BELIEVE the obvious, that this isn't true and that the process we've been waiting on WILL commence accordingly....BUT I don't know what else to say...
A girlfriend of mine that works @ LICH called and told me on Friday the very same thing that everybody has been saying on this board. ONLY adding that the school isn't accepting NEW students because the school is being investigated for stealing (in regards to Financial Aid/Grants etc). Now that the merge is happening thier finding out about all the under the table shady/mishandling with the monies. I was told the higher ups/staff admin have been or will be LET GO! UUUUhhhhggggg!!! But I will remain the mail-box stalker for the nxt couple weeks , we ALL shall see...
A short article on merger, in Brooklyn Daily Eagle. In the end, it seems like a good thing for the community in the long run.

honestly....this is all crazy! there has been so many ups and downs in the past 30 posts i read its unreal. believe me i know this is extremely frustrating we all just what to know wat is going on once and for all but really all we can do is wait. clearly we are all getting different answers from everyone so they must not know whats going on either. lets just try to stay positive and hope that there will be an incoming class this fall.
hello everyone,
this is my first post here, but i've been keeping track of this tread since it started. i usually don't like to post on forums unless i feel i really need to.
i understand that there are a lot of rumors, confusion and etc, and i still have my hopes that everything will end up fine and i think all we can do now is be patient and see what happens in the end. i know its hard for all of us playing the waiting game; and i really hate the waiting game...
i have a family member who works at lich for a few years now. (yes i know the merger went through but i still call it lich out of habit) i've been informed by this family member that there is currently a dispute about keeping the school or not. this makes sense, to me at least, because suny already has a school, so i can understand that there is this whole giant mess of confusion and chaos or whatever you want to call it. now, i am not saying that this is the circumstance, there are most likely a lot of reasons for any delays, including the merger, graduation, the school being slow in general due to small staff and lots of applicants...
so basically as of now, there is still a school and there is still a freshman class for 2011... if you check the website it will state:
"lichson is no longer accepting applications for the 2011 freshman class. information regarding the 2012 freshman class admission will be posted soon."
...and i know the website is slow to change as well so this could just be completely out of date as well...
either way, i think we all need to sit around and take everyone's posts (including mine) as well as what we have heard on the phone and in person as a possibility and wait for any official information. (official like... directly from the dean in some kind of statement... not from people on the phone - even though its the schools phone line, not everyone there knows whats going on. i myself have heard many different things from different people i have called just to see what answer i get that day...i have been to many different schools and they were all as confusing when it comes to getting the right information.)
now to me what won't be fair is if the school shuts down... especially since they knew the merger was going on for a while. usually what happens when schools close is that they let the current registered students finish out their term or they get transferred, and they close out all applications. what is a huge problem is that the school has already started interviews, took applications for this year knowing that there is a merger expected... if the school closes after doing all of this without any kind of warning, especially this close to the beginning of the school year, there will be a huge lawsuit for someone. (yes the merger is causing all the issues, so the argument will be, who is to blame? lichson or suny?)
@pumeleme... please let us know what your lawyer friend says. i am interested in to seeing what we can do if the worst does happen.
@everyone... like i stated before lets wait for official information from the dean. i am just posting what i heard - it doesn't mean it is right or wrong. i am taking everyone's post as a possibility, please do the same to my post. i like to consider multiple possibilities and what to do if they occur. i am in the same boat as a lot of the people in here.
this is the only school i have applied to and i will be extremely frustrated to find out that i have to put my life on hold longer because of a school shutdown... i know my scores are good enough to get accepted as well as my college experiences and this is the only school i wanted to go to. i know its not the best school out there but there was something that stood out to me when i first heard about lichson - it would be completely terrible just to get rid it.
for now all we can do is wait... and rant... and i love to rant.
Ain't school is only a rn to bsn it isn't undergrad program like other schools the only take licensed nurses, also, everything is a bunch of he said she said at this point, everyone knows someone who works there and knows something , so pretty much they are playing by the ear , there's always some truth to.some rumor and the fact lich isn't giving any official notification to to any 2011 applicants that class will in session in fall is a little suspect to me as well, also the late deadline was in April n early deadline was in march, honestly 3 months n no response n they are blaming it on the.merger and graduation o plz. Something isn't right

I totally agree, at the end of the day it is about the money. Probably St. Francis is going to have to dish out more money to pay the State to use their hospital for clinicals. I have faith that the school will remain open despite what was said and/or rumored.
