hi all !!
i wanted to start a thread for applicants for 2011 lichson, ill like to hear your process and just be there for all and go through the wait together. i know that hard parts are over with just the gruesome part is here WAITING! hope there some ppl out there going through the same thing as i
hi all,
Well everyone if your standing while you are reading this than I suggest you sit down. I just called a guidance counselor who I had an interview with and I was told that as of yesterday it is OFFICIAL THERE IS NO FALL 2011 CLASS. The school is working with their lawyers and will be sending our your application fee back to you all. I asked if there will be a january 2012 class and she said that the school is working very very hard to work it out and have a 2012 class but its not 100%. She is just hoping. Furthermore, I asked if there will be a 2012 class will I have to re-apply completly starting from taking the TEAS or could I just transfewr my application and she said she is not sure and will have to speak to her supervisor mainly because since this school is going to be completely reformed and will be a different school they will have their own policies and procedures and might have to redo everything from start but that is not for sure. I will know tomorrow and so will you all. Once again there is NO FALL 2011 class and expect to see a refund in mail.
@tastemocha, Yeah I was thinking something wasn't right but I know the school is generally slow and they are kind of dealing with a lot of stuff right now so I understand why they are slow. Its just really annoying to get the usual general answer for everything when you call and ask about anything. You could ask "what color is the sky" and they'll tell you to call back in a few weeks - All schools are usually like that.
@Pumeleme, Thanks for that. And yes waiting before we do anything, if anything, is good. I would like that official explanation too. Maybe something official will come up with everyone calling their office about possible rumors. Hopefully someone in their office reports it to someone higher so they can give some kind of statement.
@Odessaboy. I think it would only be official until they have some kind of statement for the general public.
It doesn't make sense they would cancel fall 2011 without contacting those who had interviews scheduled.
Your TEAs test is valid for 1 year after the test date, unless you took it really early you would have to take it again and submit the new score. If you didn't take it early, why is this counselor telling you to retake the test? And how would you transfer an application if the school is reforming and will no longer fall under the old application.
I'm pretty sure they would have to contact us first saying that there will be a refund instead of just throwing us a refund in the mail with a good ole pat on the back.
hi all,
guys it is official. they got the official word yesterday that there will be no class. Also i wasnt told to retake the test I simply asked whether I will have to retake it. They will not call anybody but rather send an official letter with a refund check. Thats it. The reason no one got a letter just yet is because the school just got an offical no class yesterday and it takes time to send official letters out to everyone with refund check. They are consulting with their lawyers on how to do it. but like I said it is official as of yesterday and the letters will be mailed out with the bad news. What really sucks is that the school should have warned everyone of this possibility of class cancelling or they should have not started the proccess to begin with. Now it is 3 month before other nursing school starts and the deadline in other schools for september has long past. Now we all have to apply for january and loose 6 month because of this school. This school literally screwed everyone. LICH should have either not start the process or at least warn of this being a possibility so everyone would have enough time to apply to other school. This is really not right what LICH has done. It is very unprofessional.
Second degree meaning if you have a bacelors degree in another major not nursing. You can get a bsn in 15 months. Aka the accelerated program. That is what is meant. I see that you guys are saying something about getting in jan 2012. Where did u guys get that from. Also if they are going to revise the program. It i going to be extra hard to get in. Because the downstate nursing programs are extremely competitive
People! I beg you to help me to come up with a list of possible nursing schools and requirements, please. I know that Touro college, Beth Israel,ex-Lich, community colleges offer A.S. i nursing. Now I am checking Mount Saint Vincent college and see that if you have 60 credit transferred from other school to them you can apply for B.S. in nursing, they also have R.N. to B.S.
Can someone help me with the name of nursing school that accepts students twice a year.. somewhere in Bronx , I believe...
I want to explore my options now. Don't wish to be in situation like this.
this is possibly the worst thing that could have happened to any of us......i am APALLED that lichson has put us in this position and had us waste our time going for interviews and in the meantime downplayed this downstate merge. this school is a complete joke and i guess everything happens for a reason but now because of these people we are all behind possibly another year...and after all this time waiting!!! no words can ever express how angry/devastated i am right now. i am sick of the runaround with the staff at lichson...they dont seem to care at all everytime i call asking questions. this is something that is extremely important to all of us and now we are all screwed. i cannot believe how much money and time i have wasted on these people. the 50 dollar refund for the application fee does nothing for me. it does not give me the year back i have wasted on this. i could care less about the 50 dollars...

Just got of the phone with my friend (lawyer). The first question he asked if we are officially enrolled? I guess, we are not! So, like many nice people mentioned here, he advised us to wait, at least 1 or 2 weeks. According to him, there could be many details on the merger not settled yet, may be people who feeding us the news (from administration) could be let laid off.... if there will be no official explanations for such long wait, he mention a carrier group(lawyers), who could represent us, students, by writing a letter...( but advise to be careful, could effect the application) a lot of speculations... If even a professional cannot say for sure what are our chances!
I think that there 50/50 chance for us to get in the school or... to...:)
Let just sit tight and wait, wait and wait>
p.s.also, he mentioned that after the merger two schools could be combined or run simultaneously... or overlapping...
