I know there are multiple threads complaining about the length of time it takes the NJ BON to issue licenses, but I am wondering if anyone has had success RECENTLY getting a NJ LIC by endorsement. And if so how long did it take?

thanks so much in advance! I have interviewed for a job and had references checked but still no NJ license!

Did you apply for a temp? NJ now will issue temp licenses to nurses endorsing to reduce the wait time

No, I didn't know about this. Thank you for sharing. I must have missed it on the website! Thank you for letting me know. Is it literally like "hi, I have a NY license, here it is" and I get temp jersey one?

It's not free. The verification must be from NYBoN direct to NJBoN and you must clear the background check. Usually you apply with the endorsement. Likely not worth applying now. You can check your status online if you applied online The application is here:

No they will not. I am in the same predicament and they will not issue a temp license under no circumstances.

The waiting time is 12 weeks from the time they first enter the application in the system and that's it.

I'm currently dealing with them unfortunately...

The temp licenses are extremely new.

You cut the wait tremendously if you apply online as there is no need for a clerk to enter the application into the system and QC. When you apply online you can check your application status online also.

Some have gotten responses in less than 6 weeks if everything is submitted electronically and other licenses verified by Nursys

Is electronic submission always faster? A few people told me paper app was quicker because once it hits someone's desk they tend to it right away.

i did electronic and my friend did paper and hers was mailed one day earlier. We shall see!

if you do paper is there any way to check online?

Yes electronic is faster. Paper must be manually entered then QCd

If paper check the online license database of it says "pending" and you submitted a paper application the application was entered into the system. Then you can create an account in the same place you would create an account to apply or renew you can create an account and view your application checklist

Just thought I'd update - I got my license number in just over 6 weeks.

didnt have to do anything special - no phone calls, no trips to Newark, etc.

good luck to those who are still waiting.

How soon after you applied did you receive your fingerprint letter? I applied 10 days ago and I called today and it was just printed and not mailed out yet.

Sorry I am just seeing this post now. When I get home I can check my file on this and let you know - I was diligent in keeping a log of all dates pertaining to my license endorsement just in case!

The only thing I do recall off the top of my head was being surprised that the next available appt for fingerprinting was 10 days out!!
