  1. Hi everyone, I would like to take the RN certification but would like to attend a live review course first. Any recommendations? I am in Southern California. Thanks in advance

    PMHNP shadow opportunity

Unfortunately having just moved to CA and working in ICU with no psych department in my hospital, I have no connections whatsoever and don't really know how to go about it. I did reach out to APNA with no success

    PMHNP shadow opportunity

Hi everyone, Having recently graduated from my BSN, I am seriously considering entering a PMHNP program, but before starting the application process, I would be interested in seeing what the job entails by observing a Nurse Practioner. I was wondering if anyone in Southern California would be willing to let me shadow them to get a better idea of the job and scope of practice? My professional experience includes 6 years in a psychiatric emergency department in Europe and 6 months in a Psychiatric Emergency Screening Service (PESS) Unit in New Jersey. I also would like to know where the need for PMHNP in Southern CA is the most important and which programs are the most recommended (online or face to face). Thanks in advance for your help

Ok so heads up to anyone who applied for ICU at ST John's: they are NOT doing the program until further notice (maybe September).

No they won't say anything about ithe4 options. You gotta stick to the 2 choices you put. So if you put med/surg and peds for example and none available they just won't select you but I don't think you will know why. Know that usually ER, ICU, and peds usually go to internals first, so make your choices wisely. I know they only had 5 ICU spots for the January one. ER spots all went to internals and they had no PACU. Hope this helps

Which specialty are you and is it day or nights?

Yeah as much as I hate saying it, as an experienced nurse I have to agree that med-surg is a great way to get a solid foundation for a new grad. Wow looks like the spots are scarce in every specialties! They had only 6 in ICU all nights. I would love to meet people around. It's gonna be an adventure moving out there by myself.
