License Renewal

I just got my license this year and it says it expires December 31, 2010. Some people at my job still say I'm supposed to get it renewed because one in particular graduated in 2006 and had to renew his that year. It also says on the MSBON that all RN's renew their license in 2008. I even tried to renew it, but it wouldn't let me. It said something about my license #, ssn, or last name couldn't be found (or something like that). I am an RN (I made sure to find my license and re-look up my name on the BON). Should I do anything else? I'm going to try to contact the BON to make sure. I just wanna know so that I won't screw myself up. Can anyone help?

I was not concerned about it till you mentioned your SSN, etc. "could not be found". Evidently there is a glitch somewhere so that needs to be corrected. Your first instinct is the best - contact the state BON. Good luck!

when i looked up my license, it all came up fine. i'm only having problems with the renewal part. will it not let me renew if it isn't time to?

I always get notice in the mail that license renewal is needed.

maybe it couldnt be found cause it is not time to renew it...I would think if you just got it THIS year, why would you have to renew if if they just sent it to you this year??

I just got off the phone with the MS BON and they said that if the card says 2010, then that is when it expires. Thanks y'all.:heartbeat

you're not finding it in the renewal part because you've got two more years before you need to renew. if the license says it expires in 2010, then that's when you'll need to renew it.

also, the bon website says all rn's renew their licenses in 2008 because that state renews rn's on even number years. you just got your license this year, how can you renew it again? that would be like me trying to renew mine after i renewed it last month.

Here's an FYI for Washington State nurses. I get my license renewal form in December as I have a February birthday. Until now, the fee has been $50. Now it is $70.00. So that is a 40% hike, for this license alone.

You're not finding it in the renewal part because you've got two more years before you need to renew. If the license says it expires in 2010, then that's when you'll need to renew it.

Also, the bon website says all rn's renew their licenses in 2008 because that state renews rn's on even number years. You just got your license THIS YEAR, how can you renew it again? That would be like me trying to renew mine after I renewed it last month.

A guy I work with got his back in 2006 and he said that he had to renew it by the end of that year also so I wasn't sure, but like I already posted, I got ahold of the BON and they reassured me.

Tntrn, license renewal in Ms is $100. I think it was $50 before.
