I just got my license this year and it says it expires December 31, 2010. Some people at my job still say I'm supposed to get it renewed because one in particular graduated in 2006 and had to renew his that year. It also says on the MSBON that all RN's renew their license in 2008. I even tried to renew it, but it wouldn't let me. It said something about my license #, ssn, or last name couldn't be found (or something like that). I am an RN (I made sure to find my license and re-look up my name on the BON). Should I do anything else? I'm going to try to contact the BON to make sure. I just wanna know so that I won't screw myself up. Can anyone help?
Here's an FYI for Washington State nurses. I get my license renewal form in December as I have a February birthday. Until now, the fee has been $50. Now it is $70.00. So that is a 40% hike, for this license alone.
Wow, that is a crazy hike! I wonder if they explain a reason for the increase?

In Massachusetts, your licence is renewable every 2 yrs, odd yrs for LPN's, even for RN's. If your birthday falls within 3 months of recieving your licence you do NOT have to renew for 2 yrs. If you are unlucky (like me) and your birthday falls after the 3 month period, you have to renew it. I got my licence on Aug. 5 and had to renew because my birthday was Nov. 3, according to the BON I was 3 days outside the limit.
I would deffinately call the BON of your state and question why you are not listed yet. Could have been a typo and needs to be corrected.
Good Luck
They do. WA laws changed in 2007 requiring a "profession's fees to cover all the costs to administer the profession." In other words, the State will no longer subsidize the fees associated with overseeing a licensed profession in our State.Wow, that is a crazy hike! I wonder if they explain a reason for the increase?
We actually had a quite a bit of warning that the increase was coming and how much, notices were sent with 2007 renewals that the fees would increase in 2008.

Now if we could only get WA to adopt online renewals or 2 year licenses.

Well that sucks and is a 100% increase. Is that for one year or two? In Washington we renew yearly, they do send you a notice about 2 months before your birthday.
