Letters of Acceptance to Golden West College?

Published

Hi there...anyone receive their letters to take the TEAS V for Golden West College for Fall 2011? Thought I would start a thread for those of us who did and may have questions for each other.

I got my alternate letter today, inside was a green slip of paper stating the TEAS V test dates, does this mean I've been invited to take the TEAS and that my chances of getting in are good or did everyone receive this green-slip along with their alternate letter.

Finally some progress!!! Congrats! Are there any instructions in the actual alternate letter or is it pretty general? If it doesn't spell out any instructions I would call the office Monday to get some clarification. The last time I called the woman told me the alternate letters would come with instructional telling us what to do. I'm thinking it's a good sign that you got a list of the dates with your letter though. Good luck! :)

Are there alternates for each semester (fall and spring) or are u an alternate for both?

In reply to the last two posts.....

The letter is pretty general, is does state that most of the spaces available for alternates will be for the spring semester, but there will be a few available in fall. That fall spaces will be filled by mid-August and Spring 2012 starting mid-Oct. thru mid-Jan. It also stated that in the past they have placed 30 alternates in each class.

This letter put you in the alternate list for both fall and spring. Alternates are chosen in random selection. So my understanding for alternates is that no one has priority, once again it is like a lottery as to whose name gets pulled when an opening arises.

I got an alternate letter today too. I think I will call Monday to find out if I should go ahead and send my TEAS scores over now or wait until (possible) later notification. I read somewhere that Golden West chooses 62 alternates. If they do and they usually place 30 alternates in each class like this letter says...that means we'll likely all see each other soon, right? Here's to more hoping and waiting!!! Good luck everyone!!!!

SugarNSass did you take your TEAS V already. I am going to take mine next week. I am nervous about this test. Luck you, you know that you are ready to go. how was the Version V. Many people say is more difficult than the previous one. I am praying everyday for this test.

I took it. It's really not that hard as long as you've studied the right stuff. Never took the TEAS IV, but that is the study guide I used to study for the TEAS V. Not wise. I think it was actually easier, though, because it didn't have a bunch of geology and stuff on it. Heavy on the chemistry though.

Does anybody know when Golden west accepts applications? Is it only once a year or twice a year?

I got my alternate letter today from G.W.C with a green slip for the TEAS, but I'm not excited about it. I have two alternate letters with me. I am crossing my fingers that I will get in somewhere. Waiting for two more letters.

Hey! I see no one has answered your question. They take applications once a year. Check their site for more info, though. The application period varies depending on the type of applicant you are.

I received my alternate letter as well on Saturday. Definitely a very vague letter. I just spoke to the Nursing office and they told me they have at least 100 alternates. I also had a green slip with my letter. I guess I will cross my fingers and hope to get called. She did say they could be calling us up to one week before class starts to accept. So I think if us alternates have not taken the Teas V yet, we definitely should sign up for one of those July test dates. Anything else that we should be starting to do right now? It makes me a little nervous that we wont have much time. Has anyone been an alternate in the past and been called right before school starts? Thanks for any info....fellow nursing/pre-nursing students!!!!:)

100 alternates! That's crazy! I wish they would have just assigned us a number already so if someone drops then alternate #1 takes their place and so on. That seems a lot easier and less stressful to the applicant. I really wish Golden West was more organized with their application process.:uhoh3:

i got my letter over the weekend with the green slip also. i went to gwc site and here is the current update:

"if you are planning to take the teas with gwc school of nursing, please make sure that you visit this website: [color=#336666]www.goldenwestcollege.edu/nursing/testing on june 3, 2011. there will be specific instructions on what you have to do in order to take the teas."

i spoke with the nursing lady if it's okay to take the teas at other locations earlier rather than the july dates at gwc. she said it was okay and that gwc does not want the teas score sent to them unless they selected you into the program. however, if you take the teas at gwc on those dates in july, gwc will have your score in their system. i'm not sure if taking the teas at other sites have any affect on you getting selected since they don't know if you pass the teas or not?
