hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!
so, tell me about you...
holli, rn
hello everybody! i graduated in dec 2009 with a bsn in nursing. i am 41 and this is my second career. . . or mid life crisis, can't decide which! in february i passed nclex with 75 qs, still pinching myself on that one, it was stressful even though i was a good student. i am almost through orientation at my job and am switching to nights this week. in two weeks i will be on my own . . . really really nervous about that but i guess everyone is.
congrats and best to those new grads w/jobs and best wishes to all who are still searching!
:yeah:andie
I'm so glad I finally decided to join! I graduated in December with a BSN, took NCLEX on 12/29 and somehow passed at 75 questions. (I remember walking out of the testing place crying my eyes out because I had convinced myself that I had failed. Boy was I surprised when I got that letter and my license two days later!) I've been looking for a job ever since. I've only had one interview at a local hospital but it didn't go anywhere because the positions available were for more experienced RNs. I didn't work as a patient care tech during school so I have no experience. My classmates who worked as patient care techs got hired immediately so you can imagine how angry I feel at myself. I have applied to 11 hospitals and I'm starting to become depressed but I won't give up. I look forward to getting to know everyone and receiving much needed support!
I'm Tina! I graduated from a BSN program in 1998. I worked as a bedside nurse for about 3 years and then as a Case Manager for about 3 years. I stopped working to be a stay-at-home-mom to my children, so I have been out of the workforce almost 7 years, I'm kind of a "pseudo-new nurse" . I recently completed a RN refresher course. I'll begin a per diem RN position at a local hospital in mid-July. I'm excited!
Best wishes to you all!
Hi, I graduated with an ADN in December 09, took the NCLEX in February and passed with 75 questions. I started looking for work as soon as I received my RN license in early March. I finally was offered a position as a new grad in a Versant program that I have always wanted to be a part of ever since my nursing student days. I am so excited to be starting next month.
Hey everyone!!! Happy to meet you all! I took my boards last week, passed in 75, thank god! I don't think I couldve mentally handled 265 questions... I will be working on a medical unit, I know I know it's not the cool thing to do, but it's where my heart is! Can't wait to start my masters! Goal is to be a family np before 30! Good luck to all of you at your new jobs!!!
Hey everyone!
I am Angela and I am from South Mississippi. I just graduated from an ADN school in May of this year. I am currently trying to find a job. I have passed the NCLEX and I am licensed in Mississippi and Louisiana. I am having a really hard time finding a job. I hope that everyone else is having better luck!
Hello Everyone,
My name is Marquel and I live in Florida. I graduated from my BSN program in May and I passed my NCLEX at the beginning of August. I am currently looking for a job and hoping to get something in the ICU because my ultimate goal in the nursing profession is to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
Hello everyone! And Congratulations.
My name is Jessica. I graduated in December of last year with my ADN, took boards in February of this year. Prior to graduation, I got a job with a pediatric practice. I love it. We are open everyday of the week, 365 days a year, yes I know, a little crazy but still I love it. I'm back in school now in an RN-BSN program, whew, it's rough. My goal is to one day become a NNP but I'm just taking it one day at a time!
Again congrats to everyone! :)
Greetings all new grads!
I graduated 12 May and I passs the NCLEX with 75 questions on 13 June. I started work in the Emergency Room 23 June. I like it pretty good so far (depending on the day) I am currently still on orientation and will be off orientation right before Thanksgiving. I am pretty nervous about being on my own.

Hi Everyone!
I graduated in May 2009 with a BSN, and had started looking for jobs in January of 2009...I JUST got offered a position and start work 1/18. I took my NCLEX and passed with 80 questions in August. I worked on a telemetry/stepdown floor in a large teaching hospital as an extern throughout college. Originally, I was looking for work in a teaching hospital in a city...either Philly, DC, or NYC, and definitely did not want to end up in my hometown in Virginia.
After searching long and hard, the only interview I landed was at the community hospital in my hometown in VA, and I got offered, and have accepted the job. Although not my ideal situation, I'm excited to finally have a job and am looking forward to starting work and getting some much needed experience. I'll be working 12hr nights, 3x a week with every other weekend. I'll also kind of be going back and forth between home and my long-term boyfriend's house (which is about 3 hrs away--in the town where we went to college).
I'm SUPER nervous about starting...especially about the difference between the large teaching hosptial environment that I'm used to and the smaller community environment I will be in. Everyone seems really nice on the floor, but I'm glad I found this forum to get advice/vent over the next couple of months.
Congrats to everyone who has graduated and to those who have landed a job...and good luck to those still searching!
