  1. Hey everyone!!! Happy to meet you all! I took my boards last week, passed in 75, thank god! I don't think I couldve mentally handled 265 questions... I will be working on a medical unit, I know I know it's not the cool thing to do, but it's where my heart is! Can't wait to start my masters! Goal is to be a family np before 30! Good luck to all of you at your new jobs!!!
  2. Early job hunting! Ex: I graduated in may and began applying for jobs in February. Make sure your resume is flawless. It helps wonders if your gpa is upwards of a 3.0. If you know where you would like to work do your best to get in that area during clinicals. Bust your ass on the floor during clinical. Take every opportunity presented to you and know the basic things for whichever area you apply ex: one unit I interveiwed on was cardiac so I was sure to brush up on my acls as this was the focus of the interview and I was offered that position! Another ex: I interviewed for a med floor position so I needed to know the basic CHF, MI, DVT etc, core measure protocols as this was the focus of that interview and that is the job I accepted! Basically employers want bright students that know their stuff, it shows that they will have to spend less time holding your hand. Basically be proactive in your clinical and didactic areas bc they really do both matter in the end! Right now is proving to be a rough time for new grads finding jobs so do anything and everything to set yourself above the heard! Good luck in your last semester and job hunting!!!
  3. Hi everyone! I'm new to this site so please humor any mistakes! I'm recently an RN as I just took and passed boards last week, and I start my hospital internship on July 19th. My questions are, 1. Will new nurses immediately begin working a full-time schedule including didactic and floor time? And 2. Do you immediately start getting paid your base pay from the very first day? I'm just so eager to begin a full-time work/pay period. Is the first week of hospital orientation usually a full-time work week or do you gradually get that time? Just curious! This is my first big girl job so I'm new to the ways of a full-time schedule and paycheck. Thanks!
