Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!
I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!
Hello everyone,Congrats to all of you who got into the program, I am sure all of you will make it to the finish line. Hopefully next year I get accepted as well.
What books or apps do you recommend to study for the Hesi? Also any tips for studying microbiology and organic chem.
I took (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) for Orgo. I pretty much agree with DG82. I went to class and took notes, did the worksheets he provided, practiced questions from the old exams he provided, and occasionally read the supplementary notes. I personally liked that he wrote on the board because it was easier to see the steps you needed to take in order to solve a problem. For Microbio, I studied the slides and looked over the study guides she posted. If you're able to, try to go to her study sessions because she gives practice questions. Make sure to do very well on the lab portion because that's going to help your grade immensely. It definitely helped mine and a lot of other people's.
As for the HESI, my classmates and I posted a few tips already. I'll link them for you here so it's easier for you and other people to find: one, two, three, four, five. Good luck!
(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) posted an announcement on blackboard. On-campus clinicals are from 9am-7pm. There's a lot more information that she posted but I know many of us were wondering what time we're supposed to show up.
Yes, I emailed her about that last week. It seems like on top of the usual readings and assignments, there is this Shadow Health lab with a bunch of assignments we have to complete. It looks cool, but clearly time consuming, and pricey.
Hey, everyone! So I am reviewing the first PP for the first class and it looks like there are some Clicker questions. I have had an experience with such questions and do have a clicker. However, nowhere in the syllabus did I see that we require to have one. What are your thoughts on this?

I was actually going to ask you guys about this. I still have my clicker from 114 so I'll bring it with me just in case. Hopefully we won't need it because they haven't mentioned anything to us about it.

I was wondering the same but because it doesn't mention the clicker I kind of paid it no mind. I also still have my clicker from Chem 120 and was recently thinking about selling it. I guess I'll save it in case we actually do need it.

I see no point in using the clicker to answer clicker questions, when the answers to these questions are available on the next PP slide.
DO YOU know if we have to stay additional time to do the shadow assignment. I know that in blackboard there was a breakdown of how much time we will be in school...its approximate 9 hours on the first day without the "shadow time"
I think Shadow Time is on our own time. I am also wondering if we can complete those assignments prior to the clinical.

OK, Hello everyone. I went to the department today and wanted to update everyone regarding the hospital packages. As far as the hospitals requesting for fingerprints, there are no updates. So do not worry about it. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is waiting and advised Fatima to call about it because the lawyers from certain hospitals are giving them a hard time. As far as what (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is saying, they want the students to pay out of pocket for the fingerprints and once Fatima finds out they email will be sent to those who need it. And as far as the other documents, as long as everyone filled out the part that pertains to thyself, then everything else will be filled out. If there are any problems, our professors will let us know what else is needed. Everything has been handed in and will be addressed in class if anything. Again, to update about uniforms, the uniform is to be worn on the first day of our clinical assignment at Lehman. When we report to the hospital, go in regular attire and change to the uniform at the hospital. It is so we can most likely look sharp and not get dirty in route. That is pretty much it.
