Lehman College 2018 Fall Generic BSN/ABSN applicants!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!

I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!

I don't know you guys on a personal level but you all seem pretty cool. I do hope you guys get in.

If your GPA is a 3.9+ and you have passing scores on all hesi sections, I would suggest talking to someone (in person since they never answer their phone). It doesn't make sense that people with 3.8s got accepted before they did. No offense to those with 3.8s. If you were a transfer student, maybe your old school messed up with your transcripts? Who knows? The department is a mess ngl. After hearing that they started sending out acceptances before calculating everyone's gpa made me leery about this whole process.

My gpa is a 3.7 and I did extremely well on the hesi but still haven't heard anything. I thought I'd have a pretty good chance of getting in but my hopes are deteriorating. I know some people that had a lower GPA that were accepted. It doesn't make sense

Maybe they are looking at overall gpa and not just science gpa?

Does someone know if they have sent emails this week?

This wait is killing me... I am working on keeping my hopes up too, but it is very frustrating...

Yay! I'm happy for you, yoomee.

Hey how did you guys use castle branch for the background check and drug test? I can't seem to figure it out.

Hey! For some reason, I haven't been getting updates about this page. If you haven't already figured it out, when you go to the castle branch site, you click on place order. It'll ask you for the school code which is in the orientation packet. You'll be prompted to create a username and password and from there on the directions will walk you through the payment options and all that.

The only other thing I can think of that may have affected the order of people hearing back from Lehman was maybe the date of when each person handed in their applications? Maybe those who submitted their applications earlier were looked at earlier?

Maybe. I do think they accepted those who had finished their pre-reqs prior to Spring 2018 before everyone else. After that, it really seems random. I know a few people who handed their applications in on March 15th that got accepted before me. They had 4.0s too.

For the people who haven't taken it HIN 269: When do you plan on taking it? I'm debating on if I should take it next month, during the fall or during the winter break. They all have their pros and cons.

Also, does anyone know when the nursing department will have its next advisement session?

Got my email today for the generic program!!! I was hoping for the accelerated but I'm totally fine with this!

One thing I noticed in the email is that it said something about receiving a program packet by June 15th after you accept the offer. I'm pretty sure they forgot to change the email template which makes me think that this is a 2nd round of offers being sent out. Because of the length of time between email blasts, it seems like they wait to see how many accept/decline the offers in the 1st and then go to the next set of candidates. They'll probably do this until all spots are filled but who really knows. They should just let you know you're on a waiting list and go from there. That way people have at least SOME idea of their chances instead of this crazy stressful process of not knowing anything. In the past week, I spent close to $100 in application/transcript fees applying to other colleges, wrote some personal essays and asked for teacher recommendations only to get my Lehman email today. SMH. Of course, I'm happy I got in but I would have had less sleepless nights knowing I was at least on a waiting list. lol

My stats:

GPA 3.76

CT 880

A&P 92

Math 96

Reading Comp 96

Cumulative GPA - no idea as I'm 2nd degree

They use the same template for everyone it seems. I received my email on the 11th but it was dated June 8th.

Hahaha guess so! Mine was dated June 20th and in the attachment it said once I accept, I would receive my packet June 15th. I was like wait.....that can't be right. lol
