Just wondering if anyone else had applied to Legacy Health (Emmanuel Children's Hospital)? This is in Portland, OR. It closed last Friday and I am wanting to know when people start hearing from them about interviews. Thanks for any info you have!!
Had my phone interview this morning! *much less intimidating than an in-person. My interviewer said it was her first phone interview too....She said about 40 people had expressed interest in peds (my first choice) and from that they will probably interview 10. Not sure yet how many they will hire and generally preference will go to those who had practicums on the floor (not me...). We'll see!
We were told that the number of positions may vary. They might interview with 2 spots in mind for one specialty but have 3 spectacular candidates and decide to create room in their budget for another. During my senior practicum, the nursing supervisor told me it costs them roughly $40 K to train one new grad in the residency program despite the $10K that it states we would have to repay if we default on our end of the contract!
I wish you the best of luck. It takes a special heart to work peds :heartbeat

Good luck to you! Peds would have been my second choice but I listed postpartum as my preferred area and I also had my practicum in postpartum. Did she just ask basic questions? I have mine scheduled for Wednesday morning. Did they give you any idea of when they would get back to you about a second interview?
I had my phone prescreen today and I just don't know...She said that they had 400 applications for 18 total spots for new grads, all specialties combined. For OB there are 4 spots and she didn't know how many people specifically applied for OB. The questions were really generic questions in which I have no clue how it would help to narrow down the field for the second interview. The person conducting the interview said that she would call back after the holidays if I was selected for the 2nd interview but I'm not holding my breath because it seemed like the selection process is really arbitrary to me.
Again, I don't know what they are looking for or how they are going to narrow it down but I just got this sinking feeling that they were going through a formality by calling me. There is no way that that phone interview will help to determine anything by the 4-5 generic questions that were asked. I have a high gpa (as do we all) preceptorship, nurse aide, yada yada yada. I wish I knew what their criteria will be because I can't fathom how they'll narrow it down. I just got this sinking feeling by the end of the call that this was all just a pipe dream...Trying to remain positive but the interviewer wasn't giving me much hope...
Guess I feel better knowing that no one has heard! I thought they were supposed to be doing interviews next week?! Not a lot of time if people have to make travel arrangements...I'm sure some of us could really use a break right now! Almost everyone in my class has been hired and I'm still sitting here jobless!
