Any luck for new grads in home care agencies?
I have worked for two home health agencies doing Peds. The orientation has been adequate and there is someone at the other end of a phone if necessary. I have learned quite a bit and feel this experience will be valuable when I DO get into a hospital! I am still searching but I am getting close to that golden "1 year experience" that hospitals seem to want these days. Good luck. I encourage you to do it.

Thanks Opposum! You are right on so many levels. It is hard to "give up the dream" of whatever your chosen field in nursing may be...but maybe that is part of it...don't give up them dream, just delay it for a while and get whatever experience in nursing that you can. I am doing home health. It is pediatric, which I love, but doesn't necessarily qualify me for a hospital job. It is silly. I think on my own, deal with tubes and vents and crisis situations with chronically ill babies. I am making $$ in a nursing field. I have to be encouraged by that and pray that someplace a nurse recruiter will see my experience as valid experience. I am also considering going back to school, the be an NP. Just not sure if the job market is any better and it would cost quite a bit to achieve this. Thanks for the input!

I got my "no go" letter as well. Ashyash, I planned on trying one more time, but now feel it is probably a waste of time. I applied to many residency programs, with nothing but interviews and a bunch of time and money spent. I think these programs are really geared for the people who did their clinicals at the specific hospitals, or they know someone, high enough up to help them get their foot in the door. Not sure exactly how I will proceed, but I don't think I will apply for anymore residency programs. Good luck to all!!

Just have to ask, one more time?? Did ANYONE hear anything at all from Legacy? It amazes me that they can't send out one "group" rejection letter...

I am in Bolivia, I planned it around the dates they had stated on the application. So if I do get a call for a 2nd interview it would have to be by Skype! But I am thinking I might go back to school for Nurse Practitioner specializing in Peds. Not sure what THAT job market looks like, but I am going to research this. I want to work Pediatrics and no doors seem to be opening very wide for that in my life! Good luck to all!! I will post if and when I hear anything from Legacy.

Nope, but I am assuming they have made their choices known by now. What do you think? I guess nobody that was on here got a 2nd interview, or they forgot about us!

Anybody got anything?? I expected an e-mail by now. A rejection would at least provide closure! Packing for Bolivia...really! (But only for a mission trip!)

Thanks for sharing! Yep, I am waiting too. But I KNOW that somewhere God has the perfect place for me to be too. But it is nice to hear success, maybe my lottery win is just around the corner:-)

Right back at ya LilRed! We didn't do all that studying for nothing. And God didn't give us a passion for Nursing for no reason. He is just teaching us patience. Let you know if/when I hear anything, either way!

Hmmmm, well tomorrow is Friday! Guess that would be the end of the week! Really? Nobody else on here got a 2nd interview? Bummer. But we are all gonna be ok. I promise.

Yea, and I leave for a mission trip from Seattle to Bolivia on the 27th. Cutting things close there too. Stressful, but I had to let go and let God. I CAN'T control this. Painful realization, but it still helped to know I am not in control, but I have done everything I can for this position. Who knows...maybe we will hear today. Yesterday was a holiday in most of the work places. Feeling your pain Msoccer and thanksORRocks (you are always an uplift and so supportive!)

Well, I still have hope then...until I hear otherwise! Patience certainly is a virtue I struggle with. Good luck all! Maybe some of us will eventually meet!

It is really frustrating. My passion is Pediatrics. I finally got a home health position and have been working it for the past 3 months. Love my kiddos and have learned SO much! But then so many of the application requirements stress 6 months CLINICAL experience! I feel my home health experience, at night, is very worthy of consideration. I am on my own and have to think on my own. These kids are seriously and chronically ill. I am trying to keep the faith that God knows what I need. Maybe that won't be Portland, but I am praying I will eventually get in a hospital setting. Hang in there everyone!
