Leaving Nursing for Another Career

Has anyone thought about or actually left nursing for another career? What non-nursing career would you be interested in?

I would like to do something anatomy/lab/research related, with a predictable work environment, routine, minimal patient contact, and lots of science!

I would LOVE to be an event planner or party planner. I have no idea how one even goes about doing that. Or I would like to be an executive assistant. Yep. I know, I'm nuts.

You don't have to leave nursing to get what you are looking for. Pharma and medical manufactures hire legions of nurses to conduct research of all kinds of varying degrees.

Want to play with chemistry all day? Easy? Want to grow things in test tubes? Lots of jobs. Want to conduct clinical research on real people? Opportunities galore.

Just have to know to look.

Animal refuge; dogs, cats, horses...treat them well/care for them. That is a love humans cannot come close to; all I need is land & money!

Case Management might be a good fit for you. SW doesn't pay well, and options are limited. A nurse CM role though will incorporate your training and experience and you'll have normal hours and good pay. Best wishes 😀
