LAVC Fall 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi Guys!!

I’m getting ready to start the nursing application for LAVC. They ask us to “mail” our transcripts I’m but I’m wondering if e-transcripts are just as good? It’s still being send out from one campus go LAVC Admissions’ office... just not physically, ya know? Haha

Let me know if y’all had an experience with this!

From what they told us at the informational meeting there's like 2 lotteries. They do one based on cut score then they send invites for the TEAS.

I got in too! I applied to 4 schools and am so glad to not go through that again! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Does that mean they’re going to do another lottery for people who have already submitted TEAS scores?

So I had crap load of withdrawals and they all counted against me and I didn’t make cut score ?

If I recall correctly, once they do the first lottery, they send an email asking either for your TEAS scores or invite you to take it. This is all from an informational meeting about a year ago, so I'm not sure if things have changed with COVID or not.

I sent mine in a month ago and they emailed me on Tuesday asking if I needed to take the TEAS or if I had sent them my scores.

How do you know? Did they talk to you about it? I emailed someone from their department last week but never received a reply

Last semester I didn’t get in and they blamed it on that ?

I see, I’m sorry to hear that ?

So is there still hope or we are definitely not in?

Do you think the lottery is already done based on your zoom meeting? Can I ask if what are your stats? Thank you and congratulations!

I'm not sure if the lottery is done or not. There were about 15-ish of us in the meeting but they didn't say anything about more people one way or the other.

I had 4.0 in Sciences, 3.8 overall - I already have a bachelors in a different field. I think once you hit the cut off, it doesn't matter the stats though.

I applied to 4 schools (CSUN, Pierce, GCC and LAVC), 3 of which were lottery based and I only got into LAVC. And this was after I'd already started my second round of applications for Spring cohorts. The LA/lottery system is a hot mess so keep trying if you don't get in this time around!

Also, County and Santa Monica are points based if you have good stats and want to apply there.

When did you attend the zoom meeting? Not sure if you we’re in the 1st batch with Lucy who attended the meeting. Thank you! Hopefully I got accepted too. It’s my 2nd time to apply in LAVC, and you are right about the lottery. Thank you for the helpful information. Good luck and wish you for the best.

@Maeco I attended the meeting on the 15th and found out I got in early that morning.

I also already have a Bio B.S. from UCSB

My core science classes was like a 3.8 and my overall GPA was like 3.5. My TEAS score was 98th percentile.

I sent applications to LAVC, Pierce, and CSUN's A-BSN.

I got rejected from CSUN due to lack of clinical experience and after the invite to the TEAS test that got cancelled by Pierce I never heard back from them.
