Hi Guys!!
I’m getting ready to start the nursing application for LAVC. They ask us to “mail” our transcripts I’m but I’m wondering if e-transcripts are just as good? It’s still being send out from one campus go LAVC Admissions’ office... just not physically, ya know? Haha
Let me know if y’all had an experience with this!
No so I got ws in anatomy physiology and Microbiology cause I took them they expired than I was planning to retake so I would sign up for the classes to retake them and my dad/grandma were in and out of hospitals so I would end up dropping them- but I didn’t think much of it..so when I emailed nursing dept and told them they didn’t seem to give a crap.. I was like o wells
I heard some took the TEAS at home...which is insane!!
If anyone is still wondering, I emailed the director of the nursing department and I was emailed back a letter saying I met the cut score but was not randomly selected. Unfortunately, if you did not get an update by now, most likely you did not meet the cut score or were not randomly selected. Especially since the fall semester is starting very soon.

Because there are so few clinical spots, the enrollment is limited in every program . The school wants everyone selected to continue through the program consistently and with no empty seats. Each student who gets behind and either drops a course or needs to repeat in theory leaves an empty seat in the next semester and the semesters that follow.
I am a little confuse by your description of your W's. Was the first W done while you were still achieving a satisfactory in the course? How many semesters were family members ill and were you providing direct care or did the W just happen coincidentally. ( that sounds harsh but sometimes can be the truth)
Since you can't get into nursing is there another program that is in health care that uses the same pre-reqs like respiratory therapy, physical theory assistant, etc. Then after obtaining that license you could work in it during nursing school and it shows perseverance in obtaining a science-based degree.
Anyhow here are my suggestions since you asked.
I think the TEAS is proctored while given at home. It is not just honor based. There are some proctoring companies for this kind of thing.
I have a bs in biology, and I have scored 78 on TEAS. Only reason I would sign up for the class was because for certain schools my sciences are considered expired. Having said that yes I can do a masters in public health, also I got into some private colleges/universities but I refuse to pay 10s of thousands of dollars for a nursing degree. I also got wait listed at lattc , which per say is a 2-3 year wait and possibly works better cause I do have a newborn:) maybe I ll give him a sibling by the time I start my nursing program... so to recap I withdrew not cause I am not a determined nor a responsible student, my ws are due to the fact of me dealing with family medical issues which actually helped me decide to become a nurse... and the ws are for classes I had taken already but was trying to repeat cause since my BS days the sciences have expired.
Okay, sorry if I offended you but in 40+ years of nursing education, I have heard lots of stories on past earned grades and sometimes the true story is hard to ascertain. You have a good handle on it and can respond well when asked for problems in the past. Sounds like you would be first choice and the admission committee would have no qualms.
My son who is a surgeon got a Master's of Public Health, partially as he was paid during his schoolwork and it was part of his residence with Harvard Medical School. His thinking was that we are moving to global medicine and health care whether we want to or not. But he had family support with child caring work.
Best of luck and good wishes as you negotiate the work of academia!

Based on the call I had with a counselor about my prereq eval, I was told my Chemistry class from 5-6 years ago would still be valid. The counselor also told me they have no recency on science classes, but you should call/email to double check.

Sammie- how was the TEAS in May? Was it online? Was it proctored?
