what do you guys think about the last question right theory. i shut off at 88?'s on friday and the only thing i know for sure is that i got the last question right. i keep hearing from friends that if you get your last question right then you passed. has anyone else heard that theory????

hi yvonne, i read on a different forum that if you anwer the last question correct, you pass, if not you fail. the author mentioned, you can read (about this) on p.16 of your nclex exam book." i have yet to check on that. although i still consider this a myth to me.. but if ever there is any truth to this, it's totally unfair. well, i guess we'll just have to wait and see. my heart goes out to you yvonne. God bless!

I've never heard of the theory but if you think about it it makes sense, especially at 88 questions, but maybe not at 265 questions.

Please let us know as soon as you know Yvonne .I am very anxious for you and want to hear the end of the story! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Actually on Kaplans course I remember when they talk about the taest they said if you go to 265 then you have to get the last question right to pass bacause you were so borderline to passing. This weekend has been torture. I hope I pop up on the computer tommorrow, but I am truely feeling like I failed. How horrible to give us a test that makes us feel so miserable afterwards, is this a reward for graduating from nursing school.

Actually the "last question right" hypothesis makes a lot of sense.
The NCLEX shuts off when you have made enough errors to show you aren't ready for the RN, or when you have enough right answers to show you are.
Why would they ask you additional questions if you have tipped the total in either direction? Stands to reason that if you only needed one more right question to show you know your stuff, they won't ask you for more than that.

My test was in the 170s when I got the last question right and I did pass...it was also a question that I had kept missing previously (about 4 times) it returned to it...i finally picked the answer I totally thought was not it and it clicked off...when i looked it up at home it was the right answer....you probably passed.

Actually, I found out a couple days ago that I passed. They CA-BON never received my fingerprints, so they had to get clearance from the department of justice. It was a big mess but my license is suppossed to be issued today.. It is finally over and I can move on to my career....
Thanks for all the positive thoughts.
