Hi all
I need a new laptop, I want something smaller and lighter than what I have right now. I currently have a HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PC its about 17 inches and 7lbs. I want to stay away from MAC because the software/program my school uses for classes some files cannot be downloaded with a MAC (so please don't say go mac!:))

I use the Surface Pro 3 and love it, for lectures I am able to write on the power point, highlight and even circle key points, whereas, many of the other students have Mac and they all tell me they wish they had those options on their computers.

I'd get anything by ASUS, there's some 15" and 11" laptops there.
You can run windows on a Mac also, so it's not impossible to run school software. I'm not sure how good you are with computers so here's some instructions here.

I love my surface pro 3. One note is great for organizing and sending notes. I have my textbooks on it as ebooks. I can copy graphs over to one note from them. It even had a quick note feature you can use to scribble down something even if the computer its self is locked.
Does it have a USB port (I guess that is the right word)?

Actually you can use a Mac. I used my MacBook Pro all throughout nursing school. I have Parallels. It's a software where you partition your hard drive and are able to run both Mac OS and Windows OS. You can switch between both whenever you want. Of course it costs additional money to buy the software and install it. But if you wanted to use a Mac, it's doable.
Get a laptop that has a USB port and a CD Rom. Some books have accompanying CDs. Also NCLEX 4000 is a CD with questions.

All this talk of the Surface Pro 3 is making me want to ditch my Mac.
*grudgingly whispers* get with the program Apple.
Lenovo Idea Pad is great
Sony Vaio Laptops are nice too.

I ditched my Mac for an Acer and have never looked back. I'm also anti Apple, so there's that too.
I love iPhones, in part because I'm incapable of figuring out the android operating system (seriously, I get so frustrated when I try out my friends' phones). I figured I'd love Macs too, but they just aren't anything special. Not bad at all, but I can't draw doodles on it. Sad day.
