Having a hard time with the people in my nursing school...
Stay above it all but don't be too isolated. Do not take sides. Many of your colleagues couldn't care less if you fail out of nursing school. Be stoic and get out of nursing school with a degree.

Pharmacology - best way to learn
I would go with flow charts. With a flow chart you can make sense of their main system. So if you have a CNS medication you can pretty much say it affects the CNS, or if you have an anti-diarrheal (digestive system). Then with adverse reactions, toxicity, interactions, and contraindications you can compare with other medications. I didn't do any of that this year (I relied on flashcards) but I would have gotten a better grade if I did. You'll find that Pharm is really about comparing medications and their affect on the users, and the interactions.

Schools misrepresenting clinical site locations
Is there any employment related benefit of having placements in the community setting? It's unfortunate and I may look into transferring to another school downtown if my school selects placements in a preschool again. Community placements might be beneficial to others but I already have experience in community and social services and a degree. Jobs are becoming increasingly difficult to get for new RN Grads, why make it more difficult by wasting our time?

If you had this labour and delivery question on a test which answer would you pick?
****, I feel so bad asking people about this question. I asked my teacher last week, she said I can pick the same stage for each mechanism. So Stages are 1. ROM 2. Ferguson's 2. Crowning So I got it wrong. I still came out with 80, thankfully.

Advice
See a doctor. That sounds serious.

Failed preceptorship
These are some stupid mistakes. Especially the random insulin vial? Why didn't you tell the teacher it was lying there? Nervous?

Did You Know the Specialty You Wanted to Work In Before Clinicals?
It was public health, then I wanted to travel. Now I just want NICU. I realized it when I bathed a baby in Post Partum, an I doing L&D, I don't like it very much. I'm a male nurse and I often have to switch patients. I missed a vag delivery and it's rare for a female patient who is willing to let me observe, especially considering the cultural demographics of the hospital. Babies don't care if I'm a male nurse. NICU has their area just next to L&D, very quiet and peaceful. There were only 3 nurses in the area from what I saw. NICU is for me.
-
Why the double standard.
Probably because I want expressed verbal consent.. I'm not doing anything without it.
-
Any men in OB?
Why? I did Post Partum and Labour Delivery clinicals these past few weeks and I realized that it's not for me. I like the NICU though after I did two tours in that area.

Do you NEED a study group to get through nursing school?
Nobody wants to form a study group when I asked. So I study by myself. One thing though, they use my quizlet notes that I make for myself and study with that. I really don't know half the people using my notes. People claim to be lone wolfing but my quizlet profile keeps getting hit up.

General arts and Science Health Profile as a path to get into RPN...
that is a one year program, many students who take it intend to become Nurses. At Humber your courses will be Critical Thinking, Mathematics for both semesters, Chemistry, Microsoft Office, and English for both semesters. That Microsoft Office class is easy and tedious, you may feel tempted to cheat because it's a mostly online course, but it's not worth it. Believe me, you'll be caught. Chemistry may be a bit challenging for those who don't have much of a scientific background. Mathematics... Is basic math, fractions, y-intercepts, decimals, adding, multiplying, dividing fractions. You'll be doing conversions next semester. If you dedicate yourself you'll find it easy to get 75-80% or more on every course. Last I heard, you need at least 80% to get into the RN program, that's exactly what I had, 80%. Second semester is Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Literature, Mathematics and English.

STUDY? HOW?!!!
During mid-terms when I was failing Anatomy I turned to flashcards and quizlet, which is an online flashcard site. I looked at my flashcards from my phone and studied every night, while I was on the bus, while I was eating lunch, dinner etc. Basically I lived, and breathed AnP. I managed to get in from my pre-nursing into actual Nursing School for the BN. If you want to see my work for reference, here. https://quizlet.com/_1bao38

Laptop suggestions
I'd get anything by ASUS, there's some 15" and 11" laptops there. You can run windows on a Mac also, so it's not impossible to run school software. I'm not sure how good you are with computers so here's some instructions here. https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT202008
