Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Ash- I had the same thing happen, I called today and she said its East Jeff, everything in my letter said East Jeff but the next letter had tulane, so I was a little confused also. Call to double check.

Scuba- that is so crazy that they said its a program starting in January, since they were to do away with the asn all together. So you're in East Jeff as well?

Thanks for joining!

curiousKayPee- thanks i will call tomorrow

Im so excited that I was accepted it doesn't matter to me if it's at Tulane or East Jeff. I'm so ready to start.

I know that's right! This whole ordeal has been stressful!

Hello all!

I've been lurking too and finally decided to post lol! I was placed on the alternate list for tulane but got called this morning because a spot opened up! OMG I'm so excited!! Congrats to everyone who was accepted and there is hope for those who are alternates! I'm living proof!

That is so awesome to hear! I hope the same happens to Fumanchuesday as well! I just want us all to get in and complete this goal of becoming a nurse! Congrats to everyone once again! We are this close to scratching off a goal on our list!:yelclap:

Wow! that is great news! Glad you didn't have to wait too long on the alternate list! I sent in my transcripts again and I guess Im going to go ahead and call again and make sure they got them this time.

They did receive my transcript this time (with grades). Im starting to feel like I'm getting on their nerves with my persistence, but hey, its not my fault they calculated my GPA without asking me to resend my transcripts.

I'm glad they send the right transcript. I hope you hear something soon!

Hello everyone,

I am new to this thread but I have been reading all of your comments. Congrats to all of you that were accepted. I am interested in applying to the program for Jan. but I heard that they will be switching to an Accelerated BSN program in the fall of next year. Does anyone know if this is true and how long the new program will be?

You want to double check b/c I think someone on here said there will be another on this January, with this program things are always changing, so always call. Good luck to you!

chandarachelle: Starting in Jan, you will only be able to get a BSN from OLOL. I think that's when they will also start the Accelerated BSN. And by accelerated, they mean finish in 3.5 years instead of 4.

I knew it would take longer to get a BSN, but I didn't think it would take that long. I don't consider that to be an accelerated program because you can go to any school and get a BSN in that amount of time or less provided you have all your pre-reqs completed. I think they are going to lose a lot of people with that one because LSU's and Southeastern's accelerated programs are 18 months. I thought it would be about the same as theirs or less.
