Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

I would call and question them. I received a letter a long time ago that listed all of the things I was missing, as I'm sure everyone did. When I called they told me they had since received everything. I would let them know that you have the documented conversation that your things were received.

I would do the same thing I'm sure you did in your email over the phone as well. Point out, as nicely as possible, all of THEIR mistakes and ask if this effected your acceptance.

Thanks, I just called. She said she remembered my application and said that the transcript they received did not have my grades on in, but only listed the classes, so now I am guessing it is my school's fault. She said they will have to wait and see how many spots open up before they reevaluate the Alternates. She said that they usually have people that dont end up accepting their acceptance letters and that she thinks I have a good chance, but cant make any promises. And Yes I applied to all locations.

Well that's good to hear, we have to accept with a $150 money order or check by May 20th, I'm sure its sooner for tulane, so hopefully you will hear something back soon. Also what kind of transcript is that, that only shows classes and not grades, that's odd!

OK that helps... I really dont know if Im on a waiting list for all campuses or what... It doesnt specify in the letter, I just assumed tulane bc of the checklist, but you said your checklist said tulane too, right?

Yeah, the transcript thing is weird. Doesnt make sense. This time I had the transcripts sent to each campus just to make sure

LOL, yes that's what I would done also, I will have them tired of my butt to where they would accept so I would leave them alone.

Yes it said that but it was a typo but on my transcripts request it said tulane. I wonder why you didn't get accepted to east Jeff then if your on a waitlist

Hey everyone. I called and they combined the programs tulane and east jeff. That's what I was told.

Interesting, I wonder they differentiate who goes where. This whole application process is so odd to me.

Hello all,

I've been watching this thread for the last couple months - thanks for all the great info :-) and just finally signed up today...because...I got an acceptance letter :-)

Looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Fumanchuesday - re: your transcripts - I had the exact same problem. Very frustrating experience - both the sending and receiving schools seemed to have loads of problems and misinformation. Dozens of phone calls, emails, and repeated questions...and still they're missing a class! Be persistent - and don't give up hope! Good luck.

oh, fyi, I called the school yesterday. They said they combined Tulane and East JEfferson into one cohort. 50 spots total (instead of 2 x 50). Classes will take place in East Jefferson/Metarie.

Tulane will have another cohort start in January 2012, so they say. Which is contrary to what I was told earlier (they said a couple months ago that there will be no cohorts in Jan 2012 because they are switching to a BSN to start in Aug 2012). So for those who didn't make it into East Jefferson -- there's a good chance you can still apply for the January Tulane cohort :-)

I've been read the threads so I decided to join. I received my acceptance letter to the Tulane ASN progrom on Good Friday. I'm super excited to start the program.

I'm confused on where the program will be held. The letter I had to send back with $150 said Tulane Medical Center but my acceptance letter said East Jefferson. I was curious on where the classes will be held???
