Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

That makes me feel better. I really want us all to get in, we have really bonded thru this blog, I hope it will carry over, you know how it is when personalities clash in person... YIKES!

As always I will continue waiting, my poor finger nails are gone from me biting them down in anticipation.

So is anyone going to call today to see if they finally say letters are mailed? Haha

Just an update for me: got offered a pretty sweet job- eye bank technician (nice financial incentives). i would still work my 8-5 cancer center coordinator position and would be on call to harvest corneas at night and on weekends... Nursing school here is way cheaper but longer and i could still work some. Also, my grandfather is purchasing a new house and wants me and my fiancee to move into the other one (cuts out my $$$$ rent) Starting to think that my plan B is looking a little better than plan A... My fiancee finishes nursing school this month and has already secured a nursing position here in shreveport... Olol-tulanes slow response it making me rethink my situation... To top it all off our wedding and honeymoon takes place in early june and i am feeling a huge time crunch... If i dont find out this week, im probably going on with plan b regardless of if i get in or not... I hate waiting on other people. i am a motivated person and a planner, and i feel this whole process is holding me back. Im guessing none of yall have received a letter or anymore info yet either?

Its sortof bittersweet to realize that plan B is starting to have more positives than plan A

Good for you! I guess I went with PLan B too!

Oh yeah & I haven't received a letter or any more info either! sry!

Wow, your plan B sounds pretty darn sweet to me! Congrats and good luck.

@Fumanchuesday, That is great that you have such a good plan B. Not to confuse you even more, but if you are still considering accepting if you get in I just wanted to say a few things about New Orleans. Have you ever lived in New Orleans? It is so much different from what you see when you visit. I lived in New Orleans for 5 years and it is truly the most amazing place I have ever lived. I know you would be super busy while in school, but this city could be an amazing experience for you and your new wife to be. You have to do what's best for your family, but I am so glad I lived in New Orleans even if only temporarily. It is one of the most amazing cities and great for a young couple. I hope you all get answers soon.

Living in New Orleans is an argument in favor of going to school down there. We love the food, the people, the atmosphere, and most of all, the FOOTBALL! We are weighing out our options this week and studying the pros and cons of each scenario. Hopefully a letter comes soon, so we can have something a little more concrete. Im just glad to have a decent back up plan finally.

So any news on if those letters were mailed and when?

I spoke with someone, I think it was wednesday of last week. She said that decisions had been made, but they were waiting on someone who was out of the office to return that friday. CuriousKayPee found out that this person is in charge of finalizing the start date of the program. SO now it just depends on how long it takes her to do that. The lady I spoke with said it would be this week or next before we received letters.

Update: Letters have not been sent, but will go out this week. Good luck everyone

So I'm guessing no one has received their letter? Maybe they will come tomorrow, just in time for everyone to have a happy Easter!
