Hello all :) I applied to a relief nurse 1 position with LA county. I then got a letter in the mail sayng my application had been accepted and i was scheduled for the "examination." I took the test, passed the test, and got another letter in the mail about two months after my test saying I had passed and that my name will be placed in an "eligibility list." What now? Does any one know what happens after this process? Thank you all so much! any info is appreciated. I did get a call from Harbor UCLA and filled out some paper work and got scheduled for an interview. But is this test for all LA county nurse jobs? What has your experience been like? I also heard something about a verbal exam/ interview? what is that?
Hey Nurse24365,My livescan cleared and I have an appointment for the physical exam. You may want to call HR or nurse recruitment if you still haven't heard anything yet... good luck to you.

Congrats! They have an orientation this Monday, I won't make it to that one so I'm starting on the 21st of October. Maybe we'll be in the same group.. I hope you get through the physical quickly.. It's pretty painless..

Thanks so much Nurse24365 and Esinb86!!! :-D .... Esinb86, yeah I'm shooting for the orientation that starts on Oct. 21st. Maybe I'll be seeing you soon... :-)
Hi NewGradRN77,
Congrats.. I'll see you on the 21st. That's one of my questions as well. The letter I got from nurse recruitment said to call the manager, I am planning to do it this Friday when I'm off.. I'll let you know with what she say..
Let me know if you know anything before me.. Thanks a lot!
Had my two interviews this week. They made it very clear they don't want new grads for the relief nurse position. I guess that's the end of the road for me at county. Will have to try somewhere else. Good luck to the rest :)
Try talking to --------------- at county. I interviewed for relief nurse too and -------------- then told me what units would possibly hire new grads.

Hi everyone,
Congrats on passing the test.. Fax your resume, RN license, certifications to the nurse recruiters. You can find all the information at the county's website. Then call them and ask what units they are hiring for. Don't just wait, they may not call you if you don't follow up.
I got called to interview at 3 different county hospitals that way..
Long process but rewarding at the end.. I am starting October 21st, 6 long months after..
